WatsUp TV Commenced Test Transmission For Its 24 Hours Digital Channel

Award-winning pan African entertainment outfit, WatsUp TV has commenced test transmission for its 24 hours channel which will be dedicated to music entertainment.

WatsUp TV which just celebrated 6 years has been running its test transmission on the DVB-T2 frequency in Ghana.

As a TV Channel, WatsUp TV will be focussed on broadcasting entertainment and music contents to its viewers in Ghana and beyond through its digital platforms.

Some of its shows to be aired include Top 10 Africa, Music Playlist, Exclusive Interview, Hot Jamz, Top 10 Francophone, WatsUp TV Official Show, Its Our Time, Fans Tweet Request and Daily News.

To access the channel in Ghana, viewers are to rescan their digital television set or Digital decoders.

In the past six years, WatsUp TV has expanded from Ghana to France, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Guinea

GHANA/ Dubawa Equip Bloggers With Requisite Knowledge On Enhancing Capacity Of The Media Sector

Dubawa; Nigeria’s independent verification and fact-checking platform guided by the five principles of the International Fact Checking Network (IFCN) and KAS (Konrad Adenauer Stiftung) in collaboration with the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ), have wrapped up a two-day “fact-checking” seminar for Ghanaian bloggers, journalists and media specialists.

The master-class was held at Accra City Hotel, 22-23 October 2020 in Accra and was conducted by Dapo Olorunyomi, Chief Executive/Publisher of Premium Times Services Limited and Adedeji Adekunle (Programme Manager with the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism) Kemi Busari (Editor, Dubawa) and Legal practitioner and lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Zakaria Tanko Musah.

Participants included Gerrard-Israel Amenyanyo, (GBAfrica.net), Papaga Seckloawu Bless (CelebritiesBuzz.com), Ebenezer Donkoh (www.nydjlive.com), Attractive Mustapha of (Modernghana.com and Attractivemustapha.com), Adeyemi Adeboye, Ellis Ferdinand, Edward Blagogee, Vanessa B. Nordzi, Qwame Benedict (GHPage.com) and Monte D. Collins.

The participants were equipped with the requisite knowledge on enhancing capacity of the media sector to produce more objective, impartial, accurate and inclusive high quality media content, including increased awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the media.

The workshop also focused on enhance knowledge of media specialists on fact-checking, writing fact-check materials (practical example of media initiatives identifying fake news), concepts, definitions, integrative approaches, resources, media law and ramifications of information disorder methods and tools of content creating, which could help in practice of media specialists to prepare quality media content.

JoyNews’ Samson Lardy Anyenini Announced Journalist Of The Year

A total of 67 awards were presented to various journalists and media houses at the 2020 edition and 25th Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) Awards. JoyNews’ Samson Lardy Anyenini has emerged the 2019 P.A.V. Ansah Journalist of the Year at the ceremony.

The legal practitioner with over two decades of media experience also won the Award for Democracy and Peace Building on the night.

Delivering his acceptance speech, the Newsfile host urged his fellow journalists to be steadfast as the 2020 general election approaches.

He noted that the media plays an important role in the country’s democracy and, therefore, must not allow themselves to be bullied by security personnel and political parties.

“During the elections, when for some reason someone asks you to bring your recorder for it to be destroyed, do not give it to them. Let them know that if you are in the wrong, then they should report you to the police,” he emphasised.

Mr Anyenini also cautioned security personnel and other political actors to desist from assaulting journalists insisting that it is an illegal act.

On the night, 10 other journalists from The Multimedia Group were adjudged winners in various categories at the ceremony.

In all, the Group won 14 awards at the ceremony for their excellent reportage in various fields for 2019.

Myjoyonline.com’s David Andoh won the photojournalist of the year while Adom FM’s Kwame Anum picked the Small and Micro Scale Enterprises reporting award; Afia Amankwah Tamakloe of Adom FM took the best Health Reporting; Kojo Mensah Aborampah of Adom FM won the award in the Best Sports Reporting (electronic) category; Award for Best Human Rights Reporting.

The Women and Children Award was picked by Joy News’ Albert Sore while Emefa Nancy Dzradosi won Best Reporting in Sanitation and Hygiene (Electronic).

The others include; Adom FM’s Samuel Alfred Amo who won Best Disability Reporting (Akan); Prince Appiah of Luv News won the ADB Special Award for Agriculture reporting; Kojo Mensah Abroampeh of Adom FM took the Best Transport/Road Safety Report Award; Joy FM’s Newsfile Host, Samson Lardy Anyenini won the Award for Democracy and Peace Building, JoyNews’ Irene Emefa Apawu and Adom FM’s Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom both received awards for Exceptional Covid-19 Reporting.

Also, Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen hosted by Philip Osei Bonsu (OB) was pronounced the Political Radio Programme of the Year.

CHURCHED AND GIFTED: Nana Adwoa Sarkodie Announced Host Of Christian Reality Show Which Airs On TV3

Ghanaian-English born Radio and Television personality, Nana Adwoa Bonsu Sarkodie-Mensah simply known as Nana Adwoa Sarkodie, has been announced as the official host of the newly outdoored Christian reality television show which airs every Sunday at 4pm on TV3 dubbed “Churched And Gifted”. Since the debut episode, the young articulate Journalist, presenter and producer lit the show up with her years of experience on TV and Radio.

The ground breaking show features an array of talents from singers, dancers, miming artiste, among others who are being equipped with the requisite talent business knowledge, industry insights and support to transform them into global stars. Each week comes with a theme where talents are given the opportunity to explore their gifts in the field of hip pop, contemporary gospel, praise, others. The winner of the show walks away with Ghs 10,000, record deal and other execiting prizes.

 
Born on the 10th of October, Nana Adwoa Sarkodie is a prolific inspirational speaker, amazing Corporate MC, presenter, producer and entrepreneur who is blazing trails in the fields of Media, Film and Motivational Speaking. She grew up in the United Kingdom where she had the most part of her education.

As an enthusiastic young lady, Nana Adwoa mostly combined school with work throughout her stay in London. Between 2008 to 2012, she worked as a Producer and Presenter at OBE TV, one of the first African Television networks set up in the UK.

In February 2012, she picked up the position of Marketing Associate at Vox Africa TV where she played a major role in business development and forming advertising leads. Despite only working at Vox Africa TV on a part time basis, she managed to pull in the most accounts and brought in the most revenue.

Nana Adwoa decided to wade back into the waters of TV once again, only this time moving to her homeland Ghana where she joined Metro Television as a Presenter / Producer from 2015 to 2017. She later joined the Citi family thus Citi TV & Citi FM from August 2017 until May 2020 where she presented and produced an array of shows including Sister Sister, Traffic Avenue, Entertainment Highlight, Saturday Live and 20/20 News.

At age 31, she became the CEO and Founder of Chopbox by Nas, a wholesome grocery packaging company providing students across the country with their basic needs. She also founded The Word By Nas, an inspirational media agency set up to imbibe great Christian values and teachings among young people especially in this era of social media nuisance.

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nana Adwoa successfully introduced Ghana to Instagram Live interview sessions where she’s hosted amazing personalities in the likes of Adjetey Anang, Diana Hamilton, Makosi Musambasi, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, Martha Ankomah, Kaywa, Attorney Juanita, Prospa Ochimana, Timothy Bentum, Kingz Kid, Joel Duncan-Williams and more.

“I Did A COV¡D-19 Test; It Came Out Positive” – Naa Ashorkor Confirms Her Status

Naa Ashorkor also known as Nisirine Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku; Ghanaian actor and a media personality who currently works at Asaase Radio, Accra, has become the latest Ghanaian broadcaster to succumb to Coronavirus. After testing positive for the virus, “the actor’s health is gradually being restored, following her doctor’s instructions, and currently self isolating at home”, according to a statement posted on her official Instagram account.

Admonishing Ghanaians on the state of the virus, Naa Ashorkor confirmed that, the global pandemic is real. She urged that, there is every need to observe the prescribed social distancing and good personal hygiene to prevent community spread.

“Hello Family, After not feeling “like myself”, on Thursday night , I did a Covid test and it came out positive. I am feeling okay, following my doctor’s instructions, and currently self isolating at home. The virus is real.

It is still out there. Don’t forget all the safety protocols. Wear your mask at all times. Wash your hands with soap under running water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Stay safe. Covid is still out there.” She posted on instgram

Naa Ashorkor after publicly announcing her contract termination by the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) where she hosted the Strong and Sassy and Rhythmz A-Z radio programmes on Joy FM, joined Asaase Radio in June to host “Between Hours” music radio show. The radio show interspersed with live listener interactions, games, sing-along sessions and according to her it is meant to put the target audiences at ease whilst ensuring they are prepped up for the rest of the day’s work.
