Published

on

Ghanaian Soul musician, Amaarae, has premiered a brand new video for “SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY (SGLM)”, a standout from her debut album which features fellow Ghanaian singer Moliy on Crack Magazine.

The song’s carefree and euphoric theme is brought to life in the new Yinka Soda-directed visual, which features Amaarae and Moliy in a colourful pink world full of all the baddest girls and their stacks of money. With flashing snapshots of Amaarae, Moliy, and their girls flexing cute sartorial choices, wads of cash, and fast cars, the girls are truly living out their raps.

The fan cameos and closing credits draw inspiration from the flip-phone era of the early noughties, as Amaarae continues to build and strengthen her visual aesthetic in line with her music.

Yaw Tog Premieres “Sore Remix” Featuring Stormzy And Kwesi Arthur

A rising star in Ghana’s rapidly flourishing drill scene, 17-year-old Yaw Tog is currently riding high on a tidal wave of international acclaim. Last year, the rapper partnered with O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay Bahd for his song “Sore”, which quickly became a runaway hit for the scene.

Late last year, platinum-selling UK MC Stormzy made the trip out to the West African nation to hop on the track’s remix alongside fellow Ghanaian rhymer Kwesi Arthur. A non-stop onslaught of energy, the remix lands today with a set of high-energy visuals from KooPokuStudios.

To give the new track a test run, Stormzy took to the stage at Ghana’s UPP Festival when he performed there on New Year’s Eve just gone. Suffice to say, it went down quite well. Yaw Tog is dropping his debut EP, TIME, on March 25, which you can pre-save here.

Watch the visuals for the “Sore” remix above, and be sure to add the song to your playlists.

And here comes a switch up, Ghanaian rap sensation, Phrimpong teams up with Shatta Wale for “Ohia”, another Khendi Beatz produced hot single. The young and fierce rapper recently shook the rap scene over a verse he found demeaning to his home base, and got Ghana talking about his prowess.

Fast forward he brings the streets with him in a narrative touching on their realities in “Ohia”. The dance inspired jam is a confrontation of success and the delays in achieving them, attributed to poverty.

The collaboration is certainly in the good books of Ghana music, with Phrimpong cleverly running the sticky hooks while Shatta Wale spice it up on some ragga entry. Ohia comes with a Kenn Ayiah “grass to grace” conceptualized music video for the Moniyard Empire artiste. Watch below:
