This sad news of the 48-year-old Diaspora Coordinator for the Alliance for National Transformation(ANT)-Diaspora to hit the Ugandan Political space attracted lot of tributes from citizens of the country, including opposition leader, Bobi Wine.

Confirming the news of her death in a statement, brother of Allimadi, Milton Allimadi stated that, “it is with a very heavy heart that I announce the sudden passing our site Barbara Allimadi.” He added that, “She was also an activist, a champion of democracy in Uganda. She will be greatly missed.”

Speaking in an interview with The Observer, she described her decision to protest saying, she was seriously offended that a police force that is supposed to protect the citizenry had assaulted a woman.

GHANA/ “Buhari Is Committed To Make Peace Prevail In Nigeria” – Nana Akufo-Addo Assures

After being excoriated by the Ghanaian citizens over his silence on the innocent protesters being killed by the Nigerian Army. However, The president of the Republic of Ghana, and the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has become the first African Leader to join all well-meaning persons in calling for calm, and the use of dialogue in resolving the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria.

In a tweet on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, President Akufo-Addo, he wrote;

“I join all well-meaning persons in calling for calm, and the use of dialogue in resolving the #EndSARS impasse in Nigeria. I have spoken with President Buhari, who is committed to this end, and has begun the processes that will lead to reform. 1/2

Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. 2/2 #EndSARS”

Nigerian security forces opened fire on hundreds of protesters in Lagos, as rallies against police brutality continued in defiance of a 24-hour curfew imposed by the government earlier in the day. Graphic scenes posted on social media showed protesters fleeing as security forces, including soldiers, shot live rounds towards the crowds.

At least seven people were killed according to DJ Switch, a popular disc jockey, who broadcast live from the scene on Instagram. Protesters were seen struggling to remove shrapnel from injured protesters and in one case failing to resuscitate a casualty. In other videos protesters carrying bloodied Nigerian flags are seen pleading with security officials to allow medics to treat victims.

Fears had grown of increased unrest after a curfew was imposed by Lagos’s governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earlier in the day in an attempt to shut down protests against the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) police unit that have erupted across Nigeria. Thousands have taken to the streets in recent weeks against the federal Sars unit, now dissolved but long accused of extra-judicial killings, torture and extortion.

50 Cent Endorses Donald Trump Ahead Of Presidential Election

Published

on

50 Cent is officially the latest celebrity to hop aboard the Trump 2020 train ahead of the presidential election next month.

The rapper shared a screenshot of an infographic from the CNBC show Power Lunch on his Instagram account on Monday displaying the top tax rates by state under Joe Biden’s suggested tax plan. If the Democratic presidential nominee’s plan were to be put into effect, those making over $400,000 a year would pay 62.6% in taxes in California, 62% in New York City, 60% in New Jersey, and 58% in New York state.

50 Cent had a strong reaction to those numbers, writing on social media, “WHAT THE FUCK! (VOTE For TRUMP) IM OUT, FUCK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway.” He added, “I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% of you out of ya fucking mind,” seemingly conflating the percentage of NYC’s population that would have to pay those taxes with the tax rate a small segment of the population would actually pay.

But outrage over a rise in taxes applied exclusively to those who make over $400,000 a year isn’t exactly a rallying point for the masses. In 2018, the U.S. Census Bureau listed the annual median personal income at $33,706. In fact, earning $400,000 would easily put you in the top 1% of earners in almost every state. And if Biden’s tax plan were to be fully implemented with no alterations, over the next decade it would raise $1.6 to $1.9 trillion from corporations, $1.0 to $1.2 trillion from high earners through income tax, and $800 billion to $1 trillion from Social Security payroll taxes on high-wage earners, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

This recent endorsement also seems to be an abrupt shift in political affiliation for 50 Cent, who in September 2016 tweeted, “Let us pray, lord please don’t let Trump into office. We will spin out of control.” He also claimed in a 2017 interview with Hot 97 that the Trump campaign offered to pay him $500,000 to help attract Black voters, but he turned it down.
