Ghana Premier League giants Kotoko are set to announce the signing of Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala in the ongoing transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been identified as a top transfer target for the Kumasi-based club following his exploits in the Uganda Premier League for the past seasons.

It is believed that the most successful club in Ghana are in advanced talks with the young attacker over his possible acquisition this month.

“We are expecting the arrival of a Ugandan striker for our next season’s campaign,” Antwi Benefo told Kumasi Based Radio Station Oyerepa FM

Mukwala was part of the Vipers Squad that won the Azam Uganda Premier League and was much in the plans of Miguel Da Costa the coach of Vipers by then who had build trust in him after scoring crucial goals for the team in the quest for the title of 2017

In 2019, Mukwala was loaned at Maroons FC for the new season 2019-2020 where he has scored 13 goals and one of the league top scorers with five games to go in the Uganda Premier League

His speed and power to finish the ball has caught the eye of many other clubs but giving first priority to his mother Club Vipers SC.

According Kumasi Based Radio Station Oyerepa FM, the Porcupine Warriors are in advanced talks with Vipers SC to secure the signature of the Uganda U23 forward for their 2020/21 season campaign.

Mukwala will become the third Ugandan international to play for Kotoko after Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.

Berekum Chelsea Share Points With Kotoko.

Kotoko Berekum Chelsea with Kotoko to the Golden City for their Match Day 2 encounter of the Ghana Premier League and it ended 1-1 after ninety minute.     Kwame Poku scored first for Asante Kotoko in the first before Emmanuel Clottey took the last kick of the game to draw level for Berekum Chelsea.    Kotoko started so well with an intense and high pressing to get most of the ball whiles Berekum Chelsea defended cautiously at the back.      Kwame Poku failed to beat Samuel Adjei one on one on the 15th minutes after being put on through by Osman Ibrahim.      But it didn’t take long for Kwame Poku to get the opener for Asante Kotoko on the 19th minute when his relentless effort paid off to tap in a low cross from the flanks.   Berekum Chelsea’s effort to get the equalizer before the half time was stopped by Felix Annan when he brilliantly saved a “goal-going” ball by Kissi Boateng on the 40th minutes.   The first forty five minutes ended one nil in favour of Asante Kotoko.   Berekum Chelsea controlled the entire second half with a clear indication to get something out from the game.   Coach Michael Hesse Odameten made attacking substitution to realize that by bring on Jordan Opoku, Atta Agyei and Emmanuel Clottey.   Berekum Chelsea won a free kick just outside the box after captain Stephen Amankona was brought down by Abdul Ganiu Ismail late in the game.   Substitute Emmanuel Clottey took matters for himself and gave Berekum Chelsea the equalizer with the last minute kick of the game by striking a directly powerful shot to beat Kwame Baah In post.      The game ended 1-1 after ninety minute with both sides going away with a point each.

How Kotoko Is Going To line Up Against Berekum Chelsea .

The Porcupines will be keen to go one better than the draw than the draw they managed with Techiman Eleven Wonders in their last outing when they face Berekum Chelsea in Match day two of the Ghanaian Premier League on Sunday.

Having failed to pick the maximum points against Legon Cities last weekend, Berekum Chelsea will be hoping they will fare slightly better as they welcome Kotoko to the Golden City Park. Victory over Kotoko is by no means beyond them, but it won’t be easy.

Maxwell Konadu has his work cut out for him and this is how he could set up his team on Sunday.

Felix Annan (GK) – Annan reclaimed his position and made sure he convinced Konadu and all who doubted his abilities of his prowess with some stupendous saves last weekend. He is an example of an iconic and well-respected goalkeeper. His unique style always adds excitement.

Christopher Nettey (RB) – Having capped two times for the Black Stars, the right-back will return to the Kotoko team and reclaim his position. Nettey is sound defensively and goes forward at every opportunity.

Ishmael Abdul Ganiyu (CB) – An experienced centre-half, Ganiyu is renowned throughout the league as an intelligent defender. He boasts a wealth of top-flight experience, including spells with Wa All Stars and Karela United. A calming presence at the back, Ganiyu is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Mubarik Yusif (CB) – The former Ashanti Gold centre-back has found the favour of Konadu as he also begins to find his feet at Kotoko. He faces a tough competition at centre-back with Habib Mohammed and Evans Apau, and while it gives Konadu a tough decision, Yusif looks to be a sure choice on Sunday albeit an abysmal performance against Eleven Wonders last week.

Imoro Ibrahim (LB) – It goes without saying that Ibrahim is one of the first names on the Porcupine Warriors team sheet and has been an integral member of the side since his arrival from Karela Unted. He will be key if the Porcupine Warriors want to win this game.

Emmanuel Keyekeh (DM) – After failing to shine against Eleven Wonders, Keyekeh will be driven to make an impact this time round. He will surely add defensive stability in midfield, allowing his more attack-minded teammates to flourish.

Emmanuel Sarkodie (CM) – With Emmanuel Keyekeh out of the game due to an injury he picked against Eleven Wonders, this could be a perfect opportunity for Sarkodie to stake his claim. The former Nkoranza Warriors midfielder has all the attributes to make this Asante Kotoko team tick.

Muniru Sulley (CM) – He could be making his debut against Berekum Chelsea after sitting out during the club’s league opener last week. A creator in midfield with a superb passing ability, Muniru Sulley will be responsible for dictating the tempo and possession of the team. He has a lot to offer.

Emmanuel Gyamfi (RF) – Hasn’t been able to hit the same form he managed last season, but still, Gyamfi offers pace in attack and that is crucial in stretching defences. Capable of playing through the middle or out wide as a winger, his flexibility will come in use for the Kotoko team on Sunday.

Kwame Opoku (ST) – Opoku will be Kotoko’s danger man going into this game. The former Nkoranza Warriors forward has burst onto the scene and gained the full backing of the manager and the supporters of the club, and he will be their main threat winning the game on Sunday.

Evans Adomako – (LF) – With Augustine Okrah injured and not available for this fixture, Adomako will likely be chosen to replace him up front. He had a decent game against Eleven Wonders is buoyed to replicate same performance against Chelsea. His work-rate and speed could make him an unlikely hero for the Porcupine Warriors.
