Social Media Users Threaten To Boycott Organizers Of Stonebwoy – Shatta Wale Clash Over Unfair Outcome

Published

on

A wide section of social media users and music lovers have, on Thursday, September 17, 2020, taken to their various social media platforms to express their displeasure, for what they describe as thievery and cheat, in the organizers of the Asaase Sound Clash after the organization presented an unfair outcome of the “Asaase Sound Clash Polls”.

It was a dancehall competition prize like no other seen in Ghana. To coincide with the epic Asaase Sound Clash on Saturday (12 September) between the two dancehall titans in Ghana – Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, Asaase radio teamed up with Svani Group Ltd (formerly known as UTC Motors) to offer one of the lucky dancehall fan the top prize of a Mahindra KUV 100.

The chance to win the automobile vehicle was open to all members of the public. The task demanded was that, fans grab their phones to vote for their favorite artiste between the two by dialing a short code *800*995*1# for Shatta Wale and *800*9952# for Stonebwoy. According to the organizers, voting was scheduled to end at 8:30 PM on September 12 and a fan of the artiste who won in the polls would be driving home a brand-new Mahindra.

However, “receipts” presented as at 8:30PM on Saturday proved that Stonebwoy won in the Asaase Sound Clash polls and deservedly, a “Bhim Native” or any lucky music lover who predicted his win should have been cruising in the new Mahindra, but contrary to the public’s expectation, a Shatta Movement fan whose artiste, Shatta Wale, lost in the polls was presented with the vehicle.

Prior to the official announcement of the outcome of the polls, the winner, identified as Patrick Mensah Nartey, took to his various social media platform to declare himself as the winner of the Mahindra vehicle, whilst voting was still in process.

This decision has triggered and generated a lot of dintinct chatter on all major social media platforms, especially on twitter, as users have tabled their displeasure in the outcome of the proceedings and threatened to boycott any forthcoming event organized by media house with the hashtage “BoycottAsaaseRadio”, thus far, demanding a highly transparent audit without reasonable doubt to the teeming music lovers and Ghanaians who defied all odds to make this event a success.

The President of the Creative Arts Council has stated that the erstwhile John Mahama administration left no notes on policies initiated for the Creative Arts industry during the 2017 transition. According to him, workers of the Ministry also alleged that zero investment was done since the Creative Arts was added to the Tourism Ministry.

“In 2017 we met the Tourism Minister, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare to find out what they left behind in terms of monies, investments and after an hour of talks, nothing was mentioned about the Creative Arts.

“So I took time to find out why and her team told us that since the addition of creative arts to the Ministry, they have not made any investment,” he said

Speaking at the CreativeArts4More campaign at the Accra Tourism Information Center on Wednesday, Mark Okraku Mantey disclosed that his team had to start from scratch.

“Indirectly, this government inherited zero note for the creative arts so we are starting afresh,” he said.
