Sarkodie Hosts Idris Elba & Donae’o On Latest Single “Party And Bullshrr”.

Award-winning Ghanian rapper Sarkodie connects with none other than Idris Elba and singer and producer Donae’o for a memorable music video for their new collaboration “Party & Bullshit.”

As the title implies, the song is all about letting loose, celebrating life and having a good time. The track opens with Sarkodie delivering a rapid-fire verse. His impressive flow shines through as he raps completely in Twi. Elba joins in with an energetic second verse that humorously references fufu, while Donae’o provides the song’s catchy, anthemic chorus.

OkayAfrica spoke with Sarkodie to find out how the unique collaboration came to be. “Last year I had my annual show called Rapperholic and Idris was in town, and came to watch the show. That’s how we connected,” says the artist. “The next day he came over, listened to the project and we decided to work together. I sent him a couple of records and he loved this one. Donae’o has been a friend from time—we’ve always done records together, but they’ve been his records most times. I sent him this one, and he jumped on the hook and the magic just happened. It was super organic, it wasn’t forced. It was just a great connection between the three of us.”

The colorful music video, directed by Capone and Guise, sees the trio representing for Ghana and truly living up to the song’s title while they attend a house party. According to Sarkodie, it was just as much fun in real like as it looks on screen. “It was a genuine connection, we were doing it because we wanted to. Just three Ghanaian guys linking up and having fun shooting a video, whatever you saw on the screen that’s how it felt while we were shooting.”

The song is the first to be released under Donae’o’s new Movin Anti label, which he created to help talented artists boost their platforms. “I want to showcase acts that are extremely talented but maybe the world doesn’t recognise because it’s not packaged in a way they understand,” said the artists in a statement. “I understand these acts though and I want Movin Anti to be the voice for those people to help them be heard.”

Elba, who is currently shooting Suicide Squad, dropped another standout collaboration earlier this year with the massive “Boasty ” Earlier this month, Sarkodie became the first artist to win BET’s Best International Flow award, and with his latest, he shows absolutely no sign of slowing down.
