ROAD TO CDK: Zlatan Shares The Performance Video Of Latest Single

Published

on

Nigerian artist Zlatan recently dropped his latest single “Road to CDK” which is the first track featured on his upcoming album titled CDK (Casanblan Dè Katamatophia). It’s high energy and fire bars as the track sees the artist returning to just straight-up rapping instead of the Afrobeats/Afro-house melodies we were becoming accustomed to him releasing.

Produced by Mansa Jabulani, “Road to CDK” boasts an infectious hip-hop beat which sets the tone for the rest of the track. The track is a stark contrast to the slow-paced and almost pensive feel of “Life” which featured on his 2019 debut album Zanku. The artist goes in hard with a number of strong verses which are sure to put to bed any doubts around his abilities.

In his performance at the Aktivated Sessions Studios, it’s simply Zlatan and the mic and no need for anything else. CDK follows the artist’s two projects Zanku and Spits on Your Graves which were both released last year. And if this latest track is anything to go by, the third project will definitely be a strong one.

Stonebwoy Releases The Latest Video From His Anloga Junction Album

Published

on

GREATER ACCRA – Friday, May 29, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – In April, Ghanaian star Stonebwoy released Anloga Junction, a 15-track album that joins dancehall, high-life, and afrobeats to spread messages of love and unity — something that the world could always use more of.

One of the album’s standouts, “Le Gba Gbe (Alive)”, which is spoken in the artist’s native tongue of Ewe takes on the theme of mental slavery. But the song doesn’t end on a somber note. Its victory is in how Stonebwoy’s chronicles the process of breaking away from that counterproductive state of mind in order to enjoy life at its fullest.

Today, The FADER premiered the song’s video, which follows the track’s message perfectly. At the video’s beginning, Stonebwoy witnesses a massacre which is meant to symbolize the constraint that society puts on its people. As the visual progresses, battles these forces in order to emerge as a symbol of liberation.

“The visuals to this spiritual song means a lot to me and that’s why I was filmed at my ancestral place,” he said of the video in an email. “It carries the important message of staying true to one’s roots.”

Knii Lante Drops ”I Just Want To” Video.

Published

on

GREATER ACCRA, GHANA, May 28th, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ It looks like the issue of love is something that comes naturally to Knii Lante. It strikes me how the love theme runs through almost all his songs. Talk of “Baby Take Good Care”, “Baby be Mine”, “You”, “When You Love Someone” and “Humanity” which pays homage to frontline health workers. All his songs ooze with love.

Then comes the latest one “I Just Want To”. It takes things to an even higher level.

Listening to this song leaves one in a wonderland as to which musicians might have influenced the groove. Although “I Just Want To” is essentially an Afrobeats jam, one can detect the smoothness of Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson or John Legend but topped with the 5-beat African rhythm.

The soul of the music places the artiste in a dream world in which he sets his heart, mind and soul on a lady whom he would like to make a part of his world. To put it shortly, he is in love with her. This love is total and unconditional. The lovebird is smitten. He would do anything for her, even go and fetch water from the riverside and carry it to her so that he could be accepted as her lover.

It appears that when he composed this song, Knii Lante might have been reminiscing about some era in the past when he was smitten by a lady. One can imagine a couple sitting in a serene and half-lit corner of a restaurant or café while the guy pours his heart out.

It is the kind of song a young guy would play to express his feelings to a lady when she visited. It would be enough to send the message and the beat would create the required mood to advance the conversation.

The new video is a family affair, with varying clips of the whole DMW clan, as well as shots of Davido’s family showering him with prayers for protection against naysayers inserted into the mix.

Since the ‘rona became a global pandemic, there has been a shutdown of large events and festivals that could be harmful for attendees, and most artists all over the world are suffering drawbacks from this. Just before the pandemic, Davido had to cancel the rest of the North American leg of his tour and in the video directed by Brendo Kareem and his creative director, Tycoon, we get to see collated clips of the cities and shows Davido and the gang were able to get to before the pandemic.
