GREATER ACCRA – Thursday, April 23, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – It was a night full music and exclusive information as multiple award-winning Ghanaian born reggae/ragga & dance-hall warrior, livingstone Etse Satekla, professionally called Stonebwoy, was hosted in a 2-hour virtual album listening session live on on the largest independent commercial media and entertainment network in Ghana, Multimedia Group Limited (parent company of Hitz 103.9 FM and Joy Prime)
The event which was streamed live via Stonebwoy’s Youtube page, Joy Prime’s social media pages respectively, and transmitted via Hitz 103.9 FM witnessed the Black Entertainment Tv (BET) award-winning artiste taking consumers, entertainment critics and the entire music populace down the lane to “Anloga Junction”, with discussion being centered on his forthcoming studio album, but not limited to promotional strategies, collaborations, productions and inspiration behind the whole theme, thus, “Anloga Junction”.
Hosted by Jay Foley and Kpekpo Maxwell Justice (KMJ) who empaneled Mark Okraku Mantey, Cookie Tee, and Doreen Avio, “Road To Anloga Junction” saw the most revered dance-hall artiste delivering an electrifying performance with his BHIM Band, with only two crew members (Keyboardist and Guitarist) representing. For the first time, he performed the three singles (Understand, African Party and Good Morning) and track-15, Strength and Hope, off the album. This was after he shared two singles each from the last three albums, thus, Grade 1, Necessary Evil, and Epistles of Mama (EOM).
Speaking on the unconscious burst of creativity on the subject of his forthcoming fourth studio album, Stonebwoy revealed that, he needed to get people wondering about themaster piece just by hearing the name. He explained that, “Anloga” (a town in Keta District of the Volta Region in southeast Ghana) represents the inspiration from home, where as “Junction” represents the inventiveness from the western world. He however gave props to his late mother for being part of his artistic journey.
On the issue of production, mixing and mastering, the Nickelodeon Kids Choice (NKC) award-winning artiste stated that, in 2019, Burniton Music Group – BMG (his management) knew they had to put a project for 2020, and for this particular project, his administration handpicked some of the the topmost producers in the world to Ghana’s home-grown masterminds.
The 15-tracklist album captioned “Anloga Junction”, which is set to be premiered on 24th April, 2020 hosted 15 record producers across the globe who oversaw and managed the sound recording and production ranging from one song to a lengthy concept on his yet to be released album. The project recruited seven (7) Ghanaian top-notch producers, one (1) British prolific producer, one (1) Nigerian hit producer, a Dutch producer, and one (1) Legendary Jamaican Producer.
The project housed Mix Master Garzy (Ghana), Nana Rogue (Ghana), MoG (Ghana), Top-notch Ghanaian Dancehall music producer, Beatz Dakay, iPaapi(Ghana) N2theA (pronounced N-to-the-A) (United Kingdom, celebrated American record producer, Andre “Dre” Harris, Riga, Phantom (Nigeria), sensational Ghanaian record producer, Street Beatz, Fox Beatz(Ghana), and astute Jamaican astute producer, Kabaka Pyramid. Amazingly, Ghanaian home-grown mastermind, Mix Master Garzy, mastered all the tunes on Anloga Junction.
However, Stonebwoy revealed that, it was not deliberate to not feature any other Ghanaian, including his former boss, and High Grade Family (HGF) frontliner, Samini, but, Ghanaian Highlife pioneer; Kojo Antwi (Mr. Music Man). On this project, the three times AFRIMA Dance-hall artiste year linked up with Jamaican dance-hall juggernaut; Jahmeil, Legendary American singer; Keri Hilson, Sensational Nigerian afro-beats star; Zlatan, multiple award-winning South African rapper signed on to DEF Jam Records; Nasty C, Dutch singer; Chivv, fast rising dance-hall singjay; Alicai Harley and East Africa’s Diamond Platnumz.
The project is built on stuttering synth hits and beat work produced by 13 illustrious record producers. Stonebwoy and the and the featured recording and performing artistes connected over energetic rhythms, each delivering their own verses—add one more album to the many stellar cross-Atlantic musical collaborations that have been going on for years, in particular between West Africa and the Caribbean. The singles on the project comes paired with a new music video directed by other video directors.

MTN MUSIC FESTIVAL: Amakye Dede, Samini, Others Excite Patrons with Good Hi- Life Music At The Event.
GREATER ACCRA, GHANA (www.georgebritton.com) – Highlife legend Abrantie Amakye Dede on Friday, December 6 thrilled music lovers at the farmers’ day edition of the MTN Music festival event held at the AICC in Accra. Amakye Dede’s one hour performance was electrifying, as he gave his fans a feel of good Ghanaian danceable highlife music.
The ‘Akwadawesoa’ hitmaker performed most of his popular songs like ‘Adukro mu nsuo’, ‘Bebrebe’, ‘Iron Boy’, ‘Wanware Me A’, ‘Odo Mani Agyina’, ‘Ohohoo Batani’, among others.
The Checheku band, set the ball rolling with some great life band music which indeed made the place more fun and interesting with their singing skills and dance moves while playing the instruments at the same time.
The Angela Hit maker, Kuame Eugene proved to the crowd that he is truly the ‘king of highlife music’ as he performed some of his hit songs: ‘Wish me well’, Angela, Confusion, Aku Shika etc. with amazing dance moves and interaction with the audience. His energetic performance made the night more fun, while patrons sang along with him.
After his performance, the Ashaiman based comedian Ramzy, took over the stage with his rib cracking jokes which took the audience to another level with laughter and excitement all over their faces.
Highlife legend, Rex Owusu Marfo commonly known as Rex Omar got the audience on their feet with his flamboyant performances. He got the patrons to sing along to his all-time hit songs like ‘Fa W’akuma ma me’ and Abiba.
The audience went into a state of frenzy as DJ Andy Dosty played some of the hit songs from the late 90’s to early 2000’s with surprise performances by artistes like T Blaze, Ex Doe Bright of Buk Bak fame and Shatta Mitchy. Kidi A.K.A Sugar Daddy, with his thrilling performance got the audience support with their screams and he did not disappoint; his energy and voice all came together well and the audience were with him all the way as he performed some of his hits Adiepena, Say You Love Me, Sugar Daddy, Odo etc.
Crowning the night, the High Grade boss Samini, who is well known for his live band styled music did so well by treating the crowd with some enthusiastic performance and stage made lyrics.
The farmer’s day edition of the MTN Music Festival ended in a grand style with a lot of excitements. The night saw a lot of patrons trooping in their elegant costumes just to come and celebrate farmers with MTN. Indeed the night was full of music, fashion, glitz and glamour.
The MTN Music Festival was organized in partnership with Slip Entertainment to celebrate and stimulate the county’s creative art industry. The event is poised to excite its customers as the year draws to a close with entertainment events such as the MTN Hitmaker, Carols Night, Stonebwoy Concert amongst others.
REVIEW: Obrafour Thrill Patrons At “Pae Mu Ka” Concert.
Tonight he plays for the first time with a new band that has their synthesisers, clarinet and double bass creating a warm bath of spectral sound behind him. Opening song lays the template for the hour: soft, pentatonic arpeggios rolling behind lyrics that immerse us in a profound appreciation of nature and life. Wise but playful on stage, his between-song chat is deeply informed by the Christian Religion he’s been practicing, he tells us, for 43 years. There’s also a sweet naivety to his music that echoes his past as a child.
Obrafour is on a mission to remind Africans, precisely Ghanaians everywhere about their roots in the continent, and hiplife is his tool. At a sold-out Accra Internatonal Conference Centre (A.I.C.C.) concert, the triumphant tone is set early: a curtain drops and a colossal gorilla is revealed. Strapped into a harness, he walks on majestically, guided by the King’s body guard. Microphone in hand and the crowd screaming, raising their hands towards the stage, he moans the uplifting lyrics to the title track from his 1999 album : Intro
Other tracks from the album are as enchanting as his introduction. Yaa Nom is captivating, the jittery drums and choppy vocal delivery creating mosh-pit circles like craters across the conference centre. When Obrafour screams “Yaa Nom” during the hook, the craters collapse in on themselves, and over 1,000 people vigorously jerk their shoulders to the scattergun percussion, resembling a mass synchronized swimming routine. Obrafour has elegance, grace and charisma, a magnetic aura that follows him like a shadow; he dances as if music vibrates in his bones, and gives his vocals a deep, raspy croon.
‘This is from a twenty (20) year old album, Pae Mu Ka” begins Obrafour, his hands in the air like a preacher, his gorgeous smile wide. “It’s from, er, 1999. The Ghanaian musician’s spiritual blend of minimalism, new-age electronica, folk and lieder-style singing is having a moment, spurred on by a reissue of his album Keyboard Fantasies in 2019. Celebrating this project was a necessity. He paid tribute to the late songstress, Ebony Reigns who died through a car accident on her return from a trip.
Special guests add gloss to the evening and show how highly he is regarded. There is an appearance from Obrafour’s fellow Hiplife guru Sarkodie who dished some back -to-back tunes from his catalogue, Stonebwoy was also given a slot to deliver well produced reggae/dancehall songs, including Hero. E.L. who represented as the successor of legendry Michael Jackson, was really onpoint, not ommitting well appreciated performance from Edem, Samini (once again cementing the king of liveband music title. One thing about Samini is, just give any band at all and he will nail it at ease), Joyce Blessing (she took us to church with her soul soothing gospel tunes)Joey B, Bisa Kdei, King Promise, Akwaboah, Article Wan, AK Songstress, and surprise appearance from TH4Kwages and C.Y., they both took us back to the 2000s with their hit songs.
The evening ends with performance from Kwaw Kese, he left patrons yearning for more music after he performed Dondo, the song that has been widely accepted both the cooperate world and the street, its hard, enticing drums and echoing, easy hook digestible for ears from all continents. He finds his groove amid the heated night and leads the crowd into a memorable atmosphere, closing out a historic night for a true giant of African music.

When Sarkodie emerges into the packed Chemu School Park, his legion of screaming fans were all over chanting his name seconds after seconds just waiting for their king to spit some bars into the microphone. Hip hop music has been popular in Africa since the early 1980s due to widespread American influence. In 1985 hip hop reached Senegal, a French-speaking country in West Africa. Some of the first Senegalese rappers were M.C. Lida, M.C. Solaar, and Positive Black Soul, hip pop music came from chicago.
There also have been groups in Tanzania and other countries that emceed before 1989, that knows as Kwanza Unit although it is not very well known. During the late 1980s to early 1990s, rap started to escalate all over Africa. Each region had a new type of style of hip hop. Rap elements are also found in Kwaito, a new genre based on house music which developed in South Africa in the 1990s.
The Maiden edition of his Tema fest tour (This Is Tema) celebrates that expansion with a glittering gallery of sound. The maiden edition of the annual event had an accomplished objective of giving back to society and appreciating society for a humongous support given him right from the flamboyant stage of his career (two decades ago) to the fruity era of his musicianship. Security was tight, and the sound and lighting systems were up to standard.
On stage, it’s instructive to note that, Ghanaian Rapper, christened, Michael Owusu Addo deserves his seat at the top of the African Hip pop scene. He’s a magnetic performer. Songs such as Original, Who Da Man, Bleeding, underpinned by snapping instrumentals and jittery choruses, send feet stomping through the arena. Elsewhere, the crowds sway as he croons the softer, more melodic offerings of Can’t Let You Go (featuring King Promise) and and his latest jam off the Black Love album, Lucky (featuring Rudeboy of PSquare fame) together with Party and Bullshit (featuring Idris Elba, and Donae’O)
Throughout the evening, a range of surprise appearances sends raptures through the crowd. Multiple awards winning reggae/dancehall, and Afro-fusion artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla; Stonebwoy enthralls with summer anthem Ololo (featuring Teni), Shuga (featuring Jamaican superstar Beenie Man) and Edem garners a similar reaction with controversial tune, Toto, while Kofi Kinaata tipped the atmosphere towards Things Fall Apart and Confessions.
The evening’s biggest surprise was reserved for the last stretch. Mugeez, Paedae (R2Bees), E.L., Yaa Pono, Kwaw Kese, Medikal, Kofi Mole, Eno Barony, Quamina MP, Kuami Eugene, Kidi, King Promise, Opanka, Stay Jay, La Meme Gang, Darko Vibes,Jupita, Epixode, AMG VimBoy, Strongman, Fancy Gadam, Tulenkey, Kwesi Slay, Dope Nation, Donzy, all got the ecstatic crowd thrilled and stunned at the unexpected union.
With energy at a high point, Sarkodie brings the curtain down with some hit song off his Mary Album, spicing it up with some hit singles.

REIGN CONCERT’19: Shatta Wale Perform Wonders At The Launch Of Wonderboy Album.
As at 9:00 in the PM, technicians dealing with acoustics for a broadcast or musical performance; sound engineers employed to control and normalize the sound and enhance its beauty at the second annual edition of the Reign Concert and Wonder Boy Album launch were still at post fixing sub woofers and line arrays. Maybe, they know what the output will sound like, because immediately the event commenced and through to the to the end, the venue was soaked with good output that has no obstruction that is capable of impeding the success of the show.
I can’t omit the stage laser lighting, in perspective, craft of lighting as it applies to the production of theater, dance, opera, and other performance arts was so on point. From the switch control and choice of colors. The equipment the technicians used for stage lighting (e.g., cabling, dimmers, lighting instruments, controllers) helped made everything visible.
The event, Reign Concert 2019 and the launch of Charles Nii-Armah Mensah’s fourth professional studio album titled, The Wonder Boy was scheduled to start at 8.00 pm but witnessed a 2 hour late start (Officially). The eleven-track album has songs such as Halfcast, California, By All Means, and Melissa, which is already gaining massive airplay.
The concert began with opening performances from budding (Up and Coming) musicians who dished out some tunes to prove their worth, as up and coming, in the industry. There is this unique characteristics of Shatta Wale having a great thirst for helping sensational musicians, because of the struggles in the industry. It also witnessed performances from a long list of Ghanaian artistes including Keche, Criss Waddle, Medikal, Kuame Eugene, Fameye, Wendy Shay and Fantana.
Some lucky fans of Shatta Wale who attended his Reign Concert at the Fantasy Dome went home beaming with smiles. The Infinix brand ambassador stopped midway through his performance to gift some lucky fans Infinix phones and other products.
According to the Shatta Movement boss who pointed out the lucky fans at random, he was directed by the Holy Spirit to perform the act as a way of showing appreciation to his fans who have proven their loyalty by supporting him through thick and thin. Whiles thanking his fans, he entreated them to keep working on themselves as a way to better their living conditions and not depend on government. He also asked his fans to connect with each other and help uplift one another.
Shatta Wale mounted stage at 3 AM after a significant intro was done by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EIB Network, Ghanaian media personality, Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi Bola Ray, and Comedian DKB. A poet also played a role in introducing Ghana’s most celebrated Reggae/Dancehall musician. Its amazing how the fans of Shatta Movement are abreast with the lyrics of every song from their president. How did he achieve that?
Shatta Wale tried to change the stereotyped narration of, he, finding it difficult to play along with the band. Well, he tried. He performed three hit songs, Mahama Paper, Chop Kiss with the Patch Bay band. Even though his performance wasn’t really encouraging with the band, he pulled some strings after he switched his style of performance. Shatta Movement fans are just music enthusiasts, the only forgiveness they understand is giving them more music and as the artiste is good to go. The attendance wasn’t really encouraging because we know Shatta Wale do interms of amassing fanatics. He didn’t pull his usual patrons, but the few that represented made the night quite interesting.
The event was geared towards launching the Wonder Boy Album, but other happenings at the event took the shine off the main objective of the album, even though Charles Nii-Armah Mensah performed 5 songs, including Jata Bi, Bad Man off the project. The Reign Concert and Wonder Boy Album launch last till 6:30 am.
