Nike Honor Nigeria With Air Presto “Naija” Design

Published

on

Although we won’t be able to tune in to any Olympic competitions this year, we’re still seeing Sportswear brands across the board celebrate the global event through special footwear releases. One of those being Nike whom, after releasing their Nyjah Free 2 and Bruin React colorways via their SB sub-label today, keeps our eyes fixated on their Tokyo-ready lineup by unveiling another themed-variation of the Air Presto.

After already paying respects to South Korea and Australia, the Swoosh silhouette is now traveling to the country of Nigeria to reimagine itself in a newly-fashioned “Naija” colorway. Snug-like uppers are given a “Pine Green” backdrop and ornamented with tribal patterns pulled straight from the football club’s soccer kits (The same graphics were recently seen on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Freak 2).

Cages also arrive in green, only their shading is dialed up to a pastel tint, and they spell out “Naija” across the heel for a literal nod. Save for the “Green Strike” swooshes and five dot openings, the midsoles are wrapped in a stark black, and rounded off below with angelic tread. As of now it is already confirmed that the “Naija” theme will already land on the Air Max 95 as well, but don’t be surprised if it spills into more Nike models in the near future similar to the aforementioned South Korea makeup. Check out a closer look here, and find these dropping on Nike.com in the coming weeks for $130.

London-Based Designer Tisloh Danboyi Debuts His Jewellery Piece With ‘Love, bites.’ Silver Necklace

Published

Featuring an intentional separation with use of a comma that makes love the subject of the pendant, London-based designer Tisloh Danboyi has premiered his first piece of jewellry in the form of a new silver pendant necklace titled ‘Love, bites.’ The metaphorical play on the conventional phrase is the centrepiece of the necklace.

“There is always some form of sacrifice (a bite) which follows love” says Tisloh on the necklace, which sees the ‘Love, bites.’ motif pendant sitsting on an 18-inch, diamond cut trace necklace set in 925. Sterling silver.

Complex UK reported that, the motif is carried forward from ‘Prima Pars’, Tisloh’s debut collection launched back in 2018 inspired by the first part of Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica. After making an appearance on t-shirts and knitwear, the phrase and is now casted in metal to compliment Tisloh’s recent ‘Where the Land Meets the Water’ collection.

Speaking about the new piece, Tisloh said: “In English, the ‘love bite’, hickey or hickie describes a notable bruise caused by the kissing, sucking and biting the skin of the neck. However, in this piece, there is an intentional separation with use of a comma. This is used to make love the subject. In this way, love itself is biting – a metaphorical play on the conventional ‘love bite’. I am trying to portray the idea that there is always some form of sacrifice (the bite) that comes with the love of something or someone be that your selflessness in human and romantic relationships or giving up leisure time to focus on a project.”
