Nigerian Comedian Bovi Comes Out With Season 2 of Comedy Series ‘Banana Republic’

Renowned Nigerian comedian, actor, and writer from Delta State, Bovi has released season 2 of his comedy series ‘Banana Republic’. Season 1 of ‘Banana Republic’ was full of condensed humour and already the first episode of season 2 has so much drama.

Nigerian Comedians Add Their Voices To “Comedians Against Sexual And Gender Based Violence” Campaign

Nigerian Comedians; Alibaba, Seyi Law, Broda Shaggi, AY, Lasisi Elenu, Frank Donga, Mr Macaroni, Maraji, Real Warri Pikin, Emma ‘Oh My God’, Taaooma, Kenny Blaq, Josh2Funny, and MC Lively have have added their voices to the campaign “Comedians Against Sexual And Gender Based Violence” by ‘Her Story, Our Story – NG’ to increase public awareness at state and national levels about sexual assault and violence against women as a human rights issue.

In a 2-minutes length video shared on their instagram with a caption, the comedians and influencers took turns to sustain conversations narratives and actions; to counter persistent cycles of sexual and gender-based violence, victim-blaming and the culture of silence, and to condemn creatives who use sexual assault and violence against gender to make jokes. The revealed how every 1 out 3 women in their audience fall a victim to these incidents, thus, are unable to voice out their displeasure.

The campaingn also has the objective of calling on the attention of state governments to the scale of sexual assault and violence against persons in Nigeria: and the critical importance of state government commitment to fund, sustain and replicate Sexual Assault Referral Centers (SARCs)

According to ‘Her Story, Our Story – NG”, sexual and gender-based violence has become so widespread in Nigeria that its actual daily occurrence, as well as the ever-present fear of being assaulted that women and girls face, have become normalized. It added that, In spite of the size of the problem, there are still limited facilities to help victims and the number of cases of sexual violence and rape that are prosecuted, are very few compared to the number of victims.

South African Comedian Trevor Noah To Host 2021 GRAMMYs

The Recording Academy has announced “The Daily Show” host and GRAMMY-nominated comedian Trevor Noah as host of the 63rd GRAMMY Awards on Jan. 31. This will be the first time Noah will host Music’s Biggest Night.

“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for Best Pop Album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event,” Noah said in a statement. “I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”

Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. He is the host of The Daily Show, an American satirical news program on Comedy Central.

Also putting Africa on the map is Burna Boy who nabbed his second Grammy Award nomination for his album ‘Twice As Tall’.
