NIGERIA/ “Seek To Know All Facts Before Taking A Position On EndSARS Impasse” – Buhari Urges ‘Sypmathizers’ Calling For Calm

Published

on

After succumbing to excessive pressure from all well-meaning persons in calling for calm, and the use of dialogue in resolving the #EndSARS impasse in Nigeria, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, has urged the general, particularly, neighbours and members of the international community to seek to know all the facts available before taking a position or rushing to judgment and making hasty pronouncements.

According to the President, a wider section of the public are annonymously hiding under the preference of internet and spreading of deliberate falsehood and misinformation through the social media in particular which suggest that, his government is oblivious to the pains and plight of its citizens is a ploy to mislead the unwary within and outside Nigeria into unfair judgement and disruptive behaviour.

In a series of tweet thread sighted by www.gbafrica.net, Muhammadu Buhari stated that, on the contrary, both the government’s practical, evident deeds and words have shown how committed the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has been to the wellbeing and welfare of Nigeria citizens, even with the steadily dwindling revenues, and the added responsibilities and restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The self-aclaimed “converted democrat” revealed that, his Government has put in place measures and initiatives, including broad plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years; the creation of N75 billion National Youth Investment Fund to provide opportunities for the youths and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Survival Fund, which are principally targeted at youths, women and the most vulnerable groups in our society.

In the circumstances, President Buhari appealed to protesters to note and take advantage of the various well-thought-out initiatives of his administration designed to make their lives better and more meaningful, and resist the temptation of being used by some subversive elements to cause chaos with the aim of truncating our nascent democracy.

In the last 12 days, a widespread protests against Nigeria’s police turned violent as demonstrators were attacked by police in the streets of several cities. More than 10,000 demonstrators flocked to the streets of Nigeria’s largest city to join mounting protests against police brutality. Protesters clogged roads, bringing the centre of Lagos, the usually traffic-filled economic hub, to a standstill. Many brandished the green-and-white Nigerian flag as they filled a major stretch of highway in the city of 20 million people.

Anger over abuses by the police’s notorious special anti-robbery squad (Sars) erupted into widespread demonstrations last week, forcing the government to scrap the unit. The crowds have continued to grow despite the announcement of a string of reforms from the rattled authorities. At least 10 people have died and dozens injured in the demonstrations, which have been met with force by police units.

“I Haven’t Endorsed Any Political Party”, Stonebwoy Speaks On NPP Endorsement Brouhaha

With just approximately 14 days to elections, Politicians are leveraging on creatives with outrageously large influence on the society to canvas for votes. With the majority of talents availing themselves to be used by politicians to incite electorate’s decision, just a few are on the notion that, staying neutral and allowing the electorate to elect president and parliamentarians based on achievements is the best.

Multi award-winning reggae & dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has, in a recent interview on an Accra-based Okay FM, stated that, though he is going exercise his civic responsibility on the day on December 7, he has not made any public declaration for any political candidate to be elected or re-elected for office. But, however believing that, electorates should be given the opportunity to access the political party they feel deserves their votes.

“I won’t endorse any political party for now but I know our father, H.E Nana Akufo Addo has done a lot of good things which are endorsable”, he told host of Ekwanso Dwodwo, Abeiku Santana.

Earlier, Ghanaian born hiplife artiste Batman Samini, endorsed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a hot single “Kpoyaka” which outlines the achievements of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a liberal democratic political party which was registered on 28 July 1992, Government under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.

Sarkodie also dropped “Happy Day” featuring Kuami Eugene. The ambiguity and or inexactness of the song produced by MOG Beatz and Mastered by Possigee has left consumers in a state of uncertainty, as it has become very difficult to interpret it to be a Gospel or political campaign song for the governing New Patriotic Party. However, some part of the lyrics suggest it is actually an agenda driven campaign so for President Nana Akufo-Addo and also a Gospel song to keep nerves calm in these hard times.
