NBA Record Set As LaMelo Ball Becomes Youngest Player In NBA History To Post Triple-Double

Charlotte Hornets 19 year old rookie point guard LaMelo Ball now owns an interesting slice of NBA history as he set the record with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in a win over Atlanta Hawks. On Saturday night, he helped the Charlotte Hornets beat the Atlanta Hawks 113-105 for their third straight win and became the youngest player in league history to record a triple-double.
The previous mark for youngest triple-double had come from Markelle Fultz, then of the Philadelphia 76ers, who was 19 years and 317 days when he recorded his first triple-double. LaMelo Ball is half a year younger at 19 years and 140 days.
LaMelo in his previous game against his brother’s side fell short of one assist to make a triple-double but accomplished that in the next game. The Charlotte Hornets are 8th in the Eastern Conference with 5 wins and 5 losses.
A triple- double is the achievement of a double-digit total in three of five statistical categories (assists, blocks, points, rebounds, and steals) over the course of a single game.
