MultiChoice Ghana have hosted its annual content showcase which seeks to unveil a raft of new shows that DStv & GOtv subscribers can look forward to in the coming weeks. The showcase which was hosted in Accra, at the firm’s headquarters. The showcase highlighted the commitment by Multichoice Ghana to grow its investment to the local content industry in the country successfully redefining the video entertainment industry.
Brand De Villers, MultiChoice Africa Chief Executive Officer while speaking at the showcase reiterated the contribution that the company has made in Ghana over the last 3 decades. According to him, MultiChoice Group has heavily invested in the Ghanaian market over the past 30 years.
MultiChoice Ghana also announced the addition of new channels set to launch on the DStv platform from September 14, 2020. The channels will offer viewers more content and provide more choice and variety for lovers of movies, novellas and for kids. Among the shows unveiled today and set to premiere on various dates within this financial year are: TLNovelas: A English-dubbed Mexican telenovela pop-up channel that lands on DStv on Monday 14 September 2020 and will be available on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, and Compact packages on channel 133.
A new channel KIX will be available on DStv Channel 114 for Premium, Compact Plus & Compact customers. This channel promises to bring viewers all the best scenes from all-time favorites such as Jackie Chan to Bruce Lee. Timeless Drama Channel will offer a unique genre of high-budget English-dubbed series from Turkish producers set in the background of beautiful Istanbul or Anatolia, focusing on riveting stories full of emotion and passion that are tightly woven around Turkish values, symbols and culture with unique soundtracks. TVN will be an explosion in K-Pop and K-drama offering Korean content. tvN will be available to DStv subscribers upon launch.
For kids, a new pop-up channel called Zoomoo will launch on October 1, 2020. The channel will have content with a unique mix of live-action wildlife combined with animation, puppets – child-friendly factual programs, profiling animals, their habitat, what they eat, etc. Accompanied by the free ZooMoo App which kids can download on their devices, this channel will offer a complete multi-screen environment, synchronized on a real-time basis with the channel.
In addition to this wide variety of entertainment content, Multichoice Ghana continues to bring subscribers the best local and international sporting content including the best and biggest leagues such as Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and the UEFA championships, golf, cricket, basketball, athletics, Tennis, Formula 1, WWE, UFC and many other feature sporting events. “Let Us Have TiC Vs Exdoe” – Merqury Quaye Proposes A Battle Between Two Of Ghana’s Biggest MCs
With the objective of bringing joy and entertainment to millions of hip-hop and rap music fans across the country who are stuck indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, celebrated Ghanaian Disk Jockey and Radio and TV personality, Merqury Quaye, has taken to his official twitter handle to propose a lyrical battle between two of Ghana’s biggest MCs; TiC and ExDoe.
According to the founder of Ghana DJ Awards, it will be a delight to see these two MCs who dominated the music scene for more than a decade bring the heat back in a battle to highlight their discographies in a worthy number of rounds during a three-hour session and also an opportunity for Ghanaians to celebrate their pivotal contributions to the creative industry.
Responding to Merqury Quaye’s tweet and showing interest in the proposed battle, TiC posted
“Wow not a bad idea but yo! I don’t think my big bro @exdoeofficial is a match for me you could have paired me with someone else but not him”
ExDoe making his presence known in anticipation for this event also said;
“Hahaha, I laugh in capital letters, somebody is looking for trouble. He is very good, don’t get me wrong but when it comes to performance and clash that’s what I eat, @TiCmusicGh is for software artists.”
By virtue of their tweets, it is obvious they are ready for the this to happen, thus far, industry stakeholders and investors can make history by setting the standards right for this Merqury Quaye proposed clash.
WatsUp TV Officially Outdoor Its Dedicated 24 Hours Music Channel
WatsUp TV has officially outdoored its dedicated 24 hours music channel which affirms their leadership as a Pan African entertainment Channel on the continent.
The grand launch which took place at its studios in Odorkor, Accra was attended by various stakeholders in the entertainment industry including, musicians, actors, music video directors, producers and artiste managers.
The channel which is currently on digital TV platforms in Ghana will also be expanding its reach to other parts of the continents soon. Speaking at the launch, ABD Traore, CEO of WatsUp TV shared the journey of the channel starting as a TV show and transitioning into fully dedicated 24 hours channel within 6 years. MEDIA TRANSFER: MzDru Partways With EIB Network; Signs For MX24 TV
After two years of being with EIB Network’s GhOne TV and LiveXtra, British Born Ghanaian radio and TV presenter and Event host Drusilla Lartey popularly known by her stage name Mz Dru has landed a new media deal with MX24 TV.
The ‘Hostess with the Mostess’ is currently a staff of MX 24 a new television station in Ghana starting up with some industry household names. She is no more with EIB Network’s GhOne TV and LiveXtra.
According to the ever bubbling media personality, her reasons for leaving EIB Network was purely for growth. She said “Change is learning. Learning is growing. Growing is living. So live. Laycon Receives ₦85 million As BBNaija – Season 5 Winner
Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe – a Nigerian reality TV star, rapper, singer and songwriter known professionally as Laycon has emerged as the ultimate prize of ₦85 million winner for the season 5 edition of Nigeria’s popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.
The show which began airing on June 1 on Africa Magic Urban(DStv Channel 153) at 7pm and Africa Magic Family (DStv Channel 154 and GOtv Channel 129) at 7:30pm treated fans to the most epic reunion show filled with emotional outbursts, wild surprises and other OMG moments served by the BBNaija Pepper Dem gang.
On 19 July 2020, Laycon entered as the number nineteenth contestant in the Big Brother Naija season 5. On 22 July 2020, he became the first housemate of the season to be verified on Instagram. On 20 September 2020, he broke record and became the first housemate in the show history to reach 1 million followers on Instagram while still in the house.
On 27 September 2020 during the finale of the show, he was declared the winner, winning the ₦85 million grand prize.
Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is from Bajuwen, Odeda, Ogun State. From 2012 to 2016, he went to University of Lagos where he graduated with a second class upper degree in philosophy.
While still an undergraduate in University of Lagos, Laycon interned as a personal assistant to the CEO and managing director of Latjum Global Nigeria Limited. After graduating from the university, he worked for two months as a sales and business development personnel at Bestman Games, Ikoyi, Lagos, before moving to Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy where he became a personal assistant to the assistant director, welfare in administration and human resources of the ministry. He has also worked as a freelance writer.
