M.anifest is an internationally acclaimed award-winning Hip Hop artist from Accra, Ghana, known for musical boundary crossing, multilingual wordplay, and a refreshing hybrid songwriting approach that acknowledges both his Ghanaian upbringing and his sojourns in the West. Described in 2015 by the Guardian (UK) as “the foremost rapper on the continent,” M.anifest’s originality and impressive lyricism has earned him collaborations with musical giants such as Tony Allen, Damon Albarn, Flea (Red hot Chili Peppers), Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, A.B Crentsil and more.
M.anifest is currently working on a full length album, [untitled] to be released this year.
“Untitled” is his journey to a new musical frontier. “I hear and see it as not merely a collision of Highlife and Hip-Hop, but experimentation and distortion of both to move beyond what’s popular today,” he says.
2014 saw a blossoming of M.anifest’s artistry, continental presence, and international credentials. He was chosen as the first artist featured on the BBC World Service Africa Beats program. He joined British musical royalty Damon Albarn on a major tour of several countries in Europe and South America in the summer and fall. He also released stunning visuals for Someway Bi and No Shortcut to Heaven whiles cementing his reputation as one of the best and musically mature live performers in Ghana.
Born in Accra, Ghana as Kwame Tsikata, M.anifest is the grandson of 93 year old Prof. J.H Nketia, one of the leading ethnomusicologists and composers in Africa. M.anifest spent a decade (2001 – 2011) in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where he cut his professional musical teeth. Upon his return to Ghana in December 2011, his unapologetically modern African musical identity quickly brought a notoriety across Africa.
Less than two years after his return to the continent M.anifest was awarded the best rapper and best Hip-Hop song awards at the 2013 Ghana music awards as well as various other continental nods. The success of his last project, Apae: the Price of Free EP (December 2013), which he described as “inspired and provoked by Ghana,” lay in the witty narratives of songs such as Someway Bi and the sincere aspirations and cautionary tales told in songs such as No Shortcut to Heaven.
Over the years, M.anifest has been involved in various album projects and tours. He has released four formidable solo efforts: Apae the Price of Free EP (2013), Immigrant Chronicles (2011), The Birds and the Beats (2009), Manifestations (2007). He was prominently featured on five songs on the Rocket Juice & the Moon album that was a collaborative effort from Tony Allen, Damon Albarn and Flea. M.anifest has also been a frequently featured artist on Africa Express platforms. He was part of the historic Africa Express train tour of the U.K in 2012,
Honest Jons Chop up European tour (2012), the Africa Express World Cup showcase in Paris (2010), as well as the Africa Express showcase in La Coruna, Spain that had him playing alongside Amadou & Mariam, Femi Kuti, Mick Jones, John Paul Jones and more.
His versatility is not just epitomized in his lyrical dexterity and use of multiple languages (English, Twi, and Pidgen), but in his ability to collaborate across a vast musical spectrum. His recent list of collaborators – Kindness (UK), Kwame Yeboah (Ghana), HHP & Proverb (South Africa), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), Camp Mulla (Kenya), Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (U.S) – affirms this.
M.anifest’s creativity and entrepreneurial bent has also meant that he is a much sought after public speaker. He is a co-founder of Giant Steps (www.GiantStepsMN.com), a five-year old conference for creative entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial creatives. He has had artist residencies and given lectures in St Lawrence University (NY), University of Ghana, and spoken to several classes in Hamline University, Macalester College (his Alma Mater), Penumbra Theatre’s Summer Arts institute, Ashesi University and more.
NII AFLA SACKEY/ A Ghanaian Act Who Has Worked With Michael Jackson, Ginger Baker, And Others
With over 27 years of music experience and working with the likes of the late Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Ginger Baker and other celebrated figures in the music world. Nii Afla Sackey better known as Afla is described as a gingered up self driven Ghanaian performing artist, producer, dancer, an impeccable drummer / instrumentalist filled with fervor to breath a new life of value and relevance through African sounds.
• Early Life
Born and raised in Accra – Ghana to the late Ransford Sackey & Harriet Nelson on 27th October. Afla lived most of his life as a child with his mum and sister at Korle-Gonno/Mamprobi.
He had his basic education at Korle Gonno Methodist School, continued at Ebenezer Secondary School in Accra. Later, he traveled to the UK to do his degree and masters in music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Life as a child for him was filled with ups and down but he remains grateful for every step in the way. Because it has shaped him to be the person he is today.
• Music Career
His stage name Afla is a traditional name given to every first grandson in the family in the Ga community. He launched his career as an artist during his childhood days at Korle Gonno Methodist School when a destiny helper / teacher discovered his ability to play drums dexterously. The teacher recruited him to be part of his professional drumming and dancing group. This sparked his interest in drumming, dancing and later music.
He is associated with Afro fusion, Afro funk, Afro beat and Afro jazz. The icing on the cake is, he has added hip life to his music catalogue. With 2 albums and several singles, Afla has solidified his stand as a Ghanaian living abroad, making praiseworthy impact with African sounds. He is one of the best selling afrobeats artist in UK spreading African sounds across the globe to effect great impact.
Respectively, he has performed to a whole sea of crowd at different venues in Western world. Aside that, he has a strong orchestra that vibrates on stage whenever they perform. This has led to so many successful music collaborations with many musicians. The drum specialist looks forward in collaborating with Shatta Wale, Samini, Kwame Eugene, Stonebwoy, Manifest and a host of other talented acts because of his love for their sounds.
It’s important to note that, he fathoms music in a dynamic manner therefore he produces his own music. He recently started working with a producer called Raz Olsher in the UK. Truth be told, he can’t wait to work with renowned producers like Possi Gee, MOG Beats, Chensee Beats, Fortune Dane, etc.
Best known for his own unique blend of sounds, he expresses his thoughts, ideas and inspirations through drumming. Just by the sound of his drum, you’ll know Afla is on fire. Away from that, he uses sounds to connect people from different walks of life under one umbrella.
Nobody is exempted from enjoying his or fair share of lives challenges. Touring for a long period of time and not seeing his family for a while is one of his greatest challenge. Also, moving from one music venue to the other without enough sleep to him is a herculean task sometimes.
Yet, since music is his chosen field he got no excuses to make. Managing a whole bunch of musicians all by himself is equally a major challenge. Life has been quite challenging but it taught him how to hustle and work hard. As an artist, challenges has helped develop his intellect and enhanced his career.
• Upcoming Projects
He has been working on his forthcoming album titled ‘Destination’ which will be released soon in April. Away from that, he has 2 interesting collaborative music albums that will be released later this year. Finally, he’s also preparing to shoot his second video for his second single ‘Lets Party’.
• Greatest Achievement
Been able to keep his band actively running for 13 years is his biggest achievement.
Working with the younger generation in music inspires the creative genius in him.
Building a foundation that will help the less fortunate younger generation to gain knowledge in any field of their choice academically that will help shape their future.
• Advise To Upcoming Acts
His advise to upcoming acts and youths in general is, they should dream big, believe in it, work hard towards it with the attitude of not giving up no matter what happens along the way and it will definitely yield great results with time. Also, they must always put hard work and focus in whatever endeavour they embark on.
And be very honest in the way they relate to people they deal with along the way and that will open so many doors for them as everyone loves to work with a trustworthy and hard working person.

JAMILLA/ A New Afrobeats Star Is Born
GREATER ACCRA – GHANA, Wednesday February 19, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – Afrobeats as a genre continues to gain huge international attention. Every now and then, a new sensation bursts onto the scene poised with the talent and the flair to push the genre even further.
Enter Jamilla, the New York City-based Afrobeats debutant whose latest freestyle single is causing a stir across New York City and the rest of the world. The sultry singer looks poised to be the next big female star representing Ghana and Africa on the world stage.
Born Jamillah Adwoa Adjei, in Syracuse NY, she started singing at the age of 3 when she discovered her passion for music. Highlife music in particular since her father constantly had classic highlife songs always on rotation in their home. It’s no wonder her music possesses the depth and richness that is lacking in a lot of songs today. Jamilla is as beautiful as she is talented, and she contested and won many Beauty pageants.
An ambitious young woman, Jamilla is burning the candle on both ends; focusing on her budding music career while also pursuing a degree in nursing. She is currently based in New York City where she’s working hard to finish her maiden album which has features from some surprise Afrobeats superstars.
She mentions the musical maestro Kojo Antwi as her idol and her biggest influence and is looking forward to working with him soon. She released a surprise freestyle studio single which is already creating waves among her fans and Afrobeat lovers.
Jamilla can be followed @Jamillamusic1 on Instagram.
MEET RANDY N/ Ghana’s Sensational Musician
Aspiring musicians strive to make music as effortless, enveloping, and welcoming and moreover these days, it’s not surprising when an artiste jumps from one sound to another. Most young artists grew up listening to all kinds of music, and their own songs reflect that. But Randy N took things to another level on his breakout project “Vibin Girl”. Born Randy Nunoo Ntreh in Central Region, Ghana, the musician was comfortable in studios from a young age.
The young phenom songs are composed of all organic elements, with his warm voice carrying like a breeze over instrumentals animated by thick bass, dreamy, languid chords, and delicate percussion. What further sets UMI apart in a crowded field is commitment to giving his tracks a real thematic weight. Largely chewing features in favor of building his own vibrant world, the next step for Randy N should be a full-length album that proves his charm only strengthens with an extended run time.
When listening to his music, it becomes clear that the Ghanaian artiste doesn’t think like everybody else. In sound and in style, he operates on his own terms, and as a result, has found a sound that can’t be ignored. Because whether you like it or hate it, he’s different, and different gets remembered.
Randy Nunoo Ntreh comes from a family of 8 mum and dad inclusive. He attended Benkum senior high school and was successfully elected as the entertainment prefect. He was dancer and a very good copywriter rapper (rapping others song). After high school, he gained admission to university of professional studies where his music career officially started in 2014. He recorded his first single “down low “ jokingly and people loved it so I took music serious and recorded couple music and did about 20 features.
His latest song, Onyegelemi featuring Sensational singer, Camidoh was inspired whilst on a vacation in Capetown South Africa. A friend had just gone through broken heart and he used to do everything for the girl paid her fees got her a car literally everything but then she broke up with him when he became broke saying they aren’t (compatible) he used to buy bottles in clubs and stuff as well and that also contributed to his downfall because he was doing more than he had, so he decided to put a pen on that story.
On paper, Onyegelemi might look like the work of a overly ambitious artist dipping toes into different sounds while they find their own lane. That is not the case. In an age of over-saturation where artists face constant pressure from labels, managers, and fans to deliver consistent content, Randy M is defying expectations by taking his time. He is confident and proficient in everything he’s making, and backed by his own top tier production, he doesn’t miss. Expect that to continue in 2020.
Magnom , real name Joseph Bulley , is a Ghanaian music producer , whose productions are usually a fusion of other genres with AfroBeats. He gained the attention of Ghanaians and won the hearts of many after his hit production “illuminati” with Ghanaian BET award winner Sarkodie.
Magnom grew up around a dad who loved and listened to all genres of music , something he believes made him develop love for music. Regardless , he didn’t get much support from his parents initially , as they saw his love for music production as a hobby.
He started out as a rapper (A duo named the “Dream Team” consisting of himself and Asem) but he quit rap for sometime and during that period , he came across a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and realised he could actually create music with it .
Magnom attended Christ The King (Kindergarten to JSS) , St. Peters (SHS) and University Of Ghana , Legon (Tetiary) studying Psychology, Linguistics and Religion.
Magnom started working as a producer professionally while he was in the university and through working with Asem (who was becoming a mainstream artiste), he was introduced to other mainstream artistes.
Since then he has worked with several top artistes such as Sarkodie , VVIP , Samini, Stonebwoy, Edem , Mr Eazi, Raquel, Guru , 2face , Shaker , Kojo Cue Flowking Stone Popcaan, Treach( Naughty By Nature) just to mention a few.
In 2014 Magnom started to make the transition from producer to recording artist and eventually performing artist. His first single major single was the EDM song Kpa on which he featured Castro it was widely received but he didn’t have his voice on it. He finally recorded and released his solo single called “Too Fine” in 2015. The song was a trap song and was released with a video to critical acclaim but it didn’t do great commercially. Finally after 8 more singles his breakthrough came with “My Baby”. After that he hasn’t looked back with Overfeed Me feat Mr Eazi and Bam Bam feat Spacely doing very well commercially. He has also released 3 music projects named “Mature By Nature” , “We Speed” and “We Speed 2”.
