Laycon Receives ₦85 million As BBNaija – Season 5 Winner

Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe – a Nigerian reality TV star, rapper, singer and songwriter known professionally as Laycon has emerged as the ultimate prize of ₦85 million winner for the season 5 edition of Nigeria’s popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.

The show which began airing on June 1 on Africa Magic Urban(DStv Channel 153) at 7pm and Africa Magic Family (DStv Channel 154 and GOtv Channel 129) at 7:30pm treated fans to the most epic reunion show filled with emotional outbursts, wild surprises and other OMG moments served by the BBNaija Pepper Dem gang.

On 19 July 2020, Laycon entered as the number nineteenth contestant in the Big Brother Naija season 5. On 22 July 2020, he became the first housemate of the season to be verified on Instagram. On 20 September 2020, he broke record and became the first housemate in the show history to reach 1 million followers on Instagram while still in the house.

On 27 September 2020 during the finale of the show, he was declared the winner, winning the ₦85 million grand prize.

Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is from Bajuwen, Odeda, Ogun State. From 2012 to 2016, he went to University of Lagos where he graduated with a second class upper degree in philosophy.

While still an undergraduate in University of Lagos, Laycon interned as a personal assistant to the CEO and managing director of Latjum Global Nigeria Limited. After graduating from the university, he worked for two months as a sales and business development personnel at Bestman Games, Ikoyi, Lagos, before moving to Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy where he became a personal assistant to the assistant director, welfare in administration and human resources of the ministry. He has also worked as a freelance writer.

Laycon started rapping at an early age. In 2019, he was signed on to Fierce Nation record label and released Reminisce and Chinko Ekun-assisted single “Fierce” off his second EP Who Is Laycon?. On 28 August 2020, he released “Senseless”.

“Mahama Made No Investments In Creative Arts Sector” – Mark Okraku Mantey

The President of the Creative Arts Council has stated that the erstwhile John Mahama administration left no notes on policies initiated for the Creative Arts industry during the 2017 transition. According to him, workers of the Ministry also alleged that zero investment was done since the Creative Arts was added to the Tourism Ministry.

“In 2017 we met the Tourism Minister, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare to find out what they left behind in terms of monies, investments and after an hour of talks, nothing was mentioned about the Creative Arts.

“So I took time to find out why and her team told us that since the addition of creative arts to the Ministry, they have not made any investment,” he said

Speaking at the CreativeArts4More campaign at the Accra Tourism Information Center on Wednesday, Mark Okraku Mantey disclosed that his team had to start from scratch.

“Indirectly, this government inherited zero note for the creative arts so we are starting afresh,” he said.

Kenyan Parliament Joins In On #JerusalemaChallenge [Watch Here]

The Jerusalema Challenge began when an Angolan dance troupe recorded themselves dancing to hit South African house track by DJ Master KG and vocalist Nomcebo in February. Little did we know that it was going to spark a viral phenomenon in the world.

It has become so large a challenge that the Kenyan Parliament partook in it. In the video, one can see a parliamentarian requesting that the Kenyan Parliament becomes the first parliament in the whole world to take on the Jerusalema Challenge. the rest after that request was history.

“Jerusalema” is currently the most streamed song on Shazam and has been streamed more than 96 million times on Spotify. The hit song has also topped five charts in Belgium, France, Hungary, and Switzerland. It was also Number 1 on Billboard’s world digital song sales chart in mid- September.

Business summit

This year’s awards will be preceded by a business summit themed: “Impact of COVID-19 on Business Sustainability: A Review of Big Businesses, SMEs and Start-ups,” and an exhibition at 9 a.m. It will be climaxed with the awards night and dinner at 6 p.m.

The special guest of honor will be the Minister of Business Development, Dr. Mohammed Awal.
