Kidi Is Too Big A Brand To Be Disrespected In Such A Manner – KOBBY KYEI Jabs Accra FM

Published

on

Entertainment and Lifestyle Blogger Kobby Kyei has criticized Accra FM’s presenter Nana Romeo, over his treatment of highlife artiste Kidi. An incident, which went viral on social media this week, saw Kidi confronted on live radio for coming late to the program.

The presenter, who felt disrespected by the artist’s lateness to the show, strong-armed Kidi into apologizing on the show and then refused to conduct the rest of the interview since this was the second time he had come in late to the same radio show.

Speaking to Jay Foley on Joy Prime’s morning show, Kobby Kyei said that although he understands the need to set an example to discourage lateness in the future, Kidi’s brand is too big to be used as the scapegoat in sending such a message.

“It was right for Nana Romeo to address KiDi’s lateness because I’m sure that if KiDi was invited for an interview in the states he wouldn’t have been late. The excuse for being stuck in traffic isn’t valid. Getting to a place earlier than the scheduled time even makes you prepare ahead of time, it’s comforting. He said, defending the presented.

He however added; “It was a second time so I think it’s high time we condemn that act. For me, I’m just sad that they used KiDi as a scapegoat. It should’ve happened to one of these up-and-coming artists. That would’ve been forgivable, but KiDi is a big brand.”

Kobby Kyei argues that incidents like this will serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of going to interviews late.

‘VERZUZ’: Kirk Franklin & Fred Hammond Turn Battle Into A Much-needed Healing Session

Published

Gospel singers Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond turned the latest ‘Verzuz’ battle into a much-needed healing session amid a painful week.

After the death of George Floyd and the nationwide protests that have followed, Franklin and Hammond — wearing coordinating “I Can’t Breathe” and “I Can’t Breathe Again” statement shirts — went live with their uplifting music Sunday night (May 31) on Instagram. Franklin also left fans looking forward to his new music video, which he said will drop Monday.

Bishop T.D. Jakes opened the music event with words of hope.

“Darkness everywhere, seemingly everywhere,” he said. “Today we pray for light because we have seen too much darkness, from Trayvon to George Floyd. From 100K people dead from Covid … Lord knows we’ve seen too much darkness.”

Jakes continued, “I don’t know about you … but sometimes I feel like that knee is on my back and I can’t breathe. But let everything that has breath praise the lord.,” and led viewers with a prayer: “We pray back the darkness, we pray back the dark clouds … the injustice, the immorality … We pray it back out of our country, out of our world … out of minds, out of every crevice, out of every shadow, we cast you out! … Oh God, whereever there is pain, giving healing … Where ever there is despair, give hope … The joy is coming in the morning. I can hear the ticktock on the wall … We are getting closer and closer … To the morning … It will not be long until joy comes into your heart, our communities, our lives, our homes our churches. Joy is coming in the morning. And we will breathe again. Amen.”

Before the tracks were played, Franklin said, “It’s been a painful week. It’s been a difficult week. We want to make it a moment of healing for you. We have 42 songs to give to you. We know the pain, we see the pain.”

That impressive song list even included a surprise appearance by Tamela Mann for a live rendition of “Take Me to the King,” with Franklin on keys.

By the end of Sunday night’s ‘Verzuz,’ Franklin kept moods high with an announcement: “To all the first responders, to everyone working on the frontline, I did a video I’m gonna put out tomorrow.”

The music video for “Strong God” off of his Long, Live, Love album will be released tomorrow, and with it, Franklin said he wanted to “salute the people that are standing on the frontline on so many levels during this pandemic — we have several pandemics at one time.”

Actor And “Foodie,” Lucia Mthiyane, To Premiere Her Debut Cookbook

Published

on

Television personality and chef Lucia Mthiyane is set to release her new cookbook titled ‘Kitchen Queen’. The foodie has, for the past decade, been a fixture in the culinary industry and has built a brand as a credible cook and celebrity chef. In Kitchen Queen, Mthiyane will be sharing her favourite and most reposted recipes, while weaving together her life story and her unique take on food.

“My culinary journey has been truly amazing, full of highs and my name is well known and respected in the culinary streets. The greatest experiences will have to be when I had to cook live on e.tv for the first time. It was nerve-wracking because anything could go wrong and it’s all live, but I got the hang of it and became a pro.

“Another highlight in my culinary career is when I became a food editor for a lifestyle magazine. I pioneered cooking classes when no one else was doing it and I have since collaborated with the biggest food brands and I have gained a lot of respect from being a judge for some prominent TV cooking competition shows like KFC TASTE and Top Chef South Africa,” she said.

Speaking about her new cookbook, Mthiyane said it has always been in her head, that one day she would share her colourful culinary journey with the world. “I didn’t really have a defining moment regarding writing a book, I had all these dishes I had been cooking over the years and being enjoyed by my family and friends and I had always known in the back of my mind that one day I will pen down a cookbook.

“If you have a look at my book cover you will see that I am wearing a pair of wooden African earrings, it was a gift from a dear friend Soleil, inside the box was an engraved note written; ‘To Lucia Mthiyane African Queen’. That was an aha moment and my publisher (Lindy Samery) both agreed that we would call the book ‘Kitchen Queen’. Plus a few of my social media followers were already calling me the kitchen queen when they were begging me to share my recipes,” she said.

Mthiyane said they have used really cool illustrations in all the book’s chapters. She has also included a few chapters that will surprise her readers like foods that benefit your skin and hair and also the intersection of music and food. The ‘Kitchen Queen’ cookbook will be available next month and will retail at a price of R375 per copy.
