“There Should Be A Select Committee That Will Focus On Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts In Ghana – Edward Owusu Urges

Published

on

To foster development and promotion of tourism-related activities, Edward “Midas” Owusu, Business Manager at Rave Marketing Solutions, has urged the Government under the auspices of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to set up Parliamentary select committee; a small group of MPs or members of the House of Lords that will focus on Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts in Ghana.

Referencing to the current parliamentary select committee, the Ghanaian entertainment mogul stated that, splitting tourism & culture and assigning it to Trade & Industry and Youth & Sports select committees respectively is a mismatch. According to him, Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts work in hand to optimize the socioeconomic growth of the country through the travel for pleasure or other arts business activities.

In a Facebook post sighted by entertainment Journalist, Gerrard-Israel, Midas stated that, culture is increasingly an important element of the tourism product, which creates distinctiveness in a crowded global marketplace. At the same time, tourism provides an important means of enhancing culture and creating income which can support and strengthen cultural heritage, cultural production and creativity.

The Managing Partner at 3 MUSIC added that, culture and tourism have a mutually beneficial relationship which can strengthen the attractiveness and competitiveness of regions and countries. Creating a strong relationship between tourism and culture can therefore help destinations to become more attractive and competitive as locations to live, visit, work and an extremely potent economic engine.

Thus far, Edward “Midas” Owusu stated that, with the synergy between tourism and culture, there should be no reason for it to be assigned to different select committees that are not Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts inclined in Ghana’s Parliament.

How about we have a Paliamentary select committee that will focus on Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts? These three go…
