Kelis Rogers Set To Star On Netflix Cannabis Cooking Show.

Published

on

Kelis will be flexing her cooking skills on an upcoming Netflix show and she’ll be using a special ingredient: Cannabis.

The “Milkshake” singer announced the new show, Cooked With Cannabis on Instagram. Kelis says she’s excited to prove to the world that aside from being a recreational drug, it’s also a seasoning.

The show is set to premiere on National Weed Day, April, 20. “Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love my Netflix, so this is a dream come true,” Kelis wrote on IG. “Interestingly, this was one of those things that I didn’t go looking for, it kind of came to me. As a chef, I was intrigued by the food and as an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society. In this country, many things have been used systematically to oppress groups of people, but this is so culturally important for us to learn and grow together. I hope you all will tune in, it’s definitely going to be a good time!”

Last Friday’s edition of the Hot Picks show which was captioned “The Quarantine TV Jam” is the first of its kind in Ghana and viewers enjoyed an hour of non-stop hits with Merqury Quaye doubling as the hype man and DJ for the day.

People outside Ghana and Africa have been creative, hosting virtual house concerts, drag shows, happy hours etc to while away time and kill boredom during this Covid-19 lockdown season but Ghana had a taste of that experience kind courtesy, Joy Prime and Merqury Quaye.

Viewers who were tuned in sent videos of them jamming along, texted and called into the show to express their gratitude for such a genius idea and just like Oliver, they kept asking for more of such TV Jams during these times that large gatherings have been banned to curtail the coronavirus pandemic.

Hopefully, Joy Prime and Merqury Quaye will make that possible. Until the next “Quarantine TV/Radio Jam” happens, just stay home, wash your hands with soap and water, eat healthy, sanitizer, keep your fingers crossed and monitor Merqury Quaye’s updates to know exactly when the next jam will take place.

COVID-19/ DStv announces Africa Easter Channel

Published

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, Wednesday April 1, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – A Sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite service owned by MultiChoice; DStv, in partnership with TBN Africa (a premium Christian channel, with an excellent selection of the best African and international Christian ministry content), is set to launch a pop-up channel designed to provide content for Christians and gospel music fans during the Easter holidays.

The Africa Easter Channel will be launched on DStv channel 344 on 9 April and will broadcast until 13 April. The channel will feature Christian music and recorded sermons submitted to DStv by various denominations, including Methodist, Anglican and Catholic. It will also feature music videos by renowned gospel artists such as Lebo Sekgobela, Dr Tumi, Hillsong, William McDowell and Rebecca Malope. The launch follows various restrictions and bans on public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice, Calvo Mawela, said this initiative is in response to a rallying call from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies to assist the religious sector, explaining that, as a responsible broadcasting entity, they are overwhelmed to partner with TBN Africa to afford worshippers to observe Easter from the comfort of their homes as over 80% saints will observe and celebrate this period without amassing in large numbers to show their solidarity to God.

Reiterating the above assertions, Managing Director – TBN Africa, Lucky Mbiko, said they have responded to this call by partnering with churches and some of the biggest gospel artistes to bring the best Easter worship experience to as many viewers as possible.

Minister of Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, said the South African government appreciated MultiChoice’s response “to our call for an industry-wide intervention to ensure that religious programming, especially over the Easter weekend, is produced and accessible to millions of South Africans utilising alternative means.” adding that, communications and digital technologies will play an important role during this disaster period and beyond.
