Festival Afropolitain Nomade is held in a different African city to develop and support initiatives that foster intercultural exchange, promote education and use art as a platform for action. Apart from the performances, Festival Afropolitain Nomade 2020 will also host panel discussions and workshops facilitated by arts professionals from the DRC, Benin, Chad and Senegal.

The festival intends to pursue its objective of fostering intercultural rapprochement between artists from the north and the south, touring the major African cultural capitals. For the past five years, several artists, 85% from diverse backgrounds, have taken part in the project and emerged from it growing and strongly transformed in their art ‒ their way of getting involved socially as well.

Speaking in an interview with Music In Africa, Kamau expressed her joy in the partaking in the forthcoming musical concert, adding that, she is looking forward to creating new connections with artists and cultural practitioners from the 20-plus countries represented at the festival as the festival is multidisciplinary approach with strong artists both in music and the visual arts, which makes it a great platform for unique collaborations and innovative artistic expression.

According to her, there is a lot to be gained from this approach because the African continent has vibrant and diverse cultural expression across the various art forms. She is also the Founder of Women in Music Forums, a platform that seeks to promote women in performing arts by providing an avenue for them to showcase their stage performance skills.

In 2012, Christine Kamau released an 8-track instrumental afro-jazz album titled ‘This is for You’. The album offers an exciting listening experience, the music being a fusion of Jazz with the African music elements of ‘Benga’ and Rhumba’. This debut release received positive reviews from the music community and saw her featured on the BBC music program titled ‘Africa Beats’ a series that showcased emerging music talent from Africa.

She has graced various stages in Africa; Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar including a notable headline performance at the Kigali Jazz Junction (Rwanda) in 2017. This will be her second performance in Nigeria, having performed at the Capital Jazz Festival, Abuja in 2016. She is steadily becoming an established name on the African Jazz Scene.
