Red Bull empowers Durban Musicians with new project

Published

on

DURBAN, April 4, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – In 2019, a group of artists came together in the KZN Music House to record, collaborate and celebrate some of the freshest music coming out of Durban. Dubane Connect is the result of those sessions: a multi-genre EP featuring a host of artists that are forging the young sound of eThekwini.

The 5-Track music project features 12 musicians from different backgrounds and music genres who all have one thing in common – they were born and bred in the coastal city of Durban. Some of the featured musicians include Mnqobi Yazo, DJ LeSoul, Campmasters, Robin ThirdFloor, Nipho Hurd, Garde, Nobuhle Khuzwayo and producers Emex, King Bruce, MusiColours and uBeyond.

These musicians got together last year at the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy, as part of the festival’s program, where they attended a Songwriters Camp. The local musicians had the opportunity to use the KZN Music House state-of-the-art recording studios and received mentorship from the legendary Madala Kunene. The Red Bull Dubane Connect EP is the product that was produced in these 3-day studio sessions.

The project has been titled Dubane Connect; the word Dubane is the slang name for Durban and the word Connect represents the collaborative spirit in which the project was created and the commitment by Red Bull to connect Durban music and musicians to its global audience. Each of the 5-songs is of a different music genre and represents a piece of the Durban music scene. Dubane Connect is really what it would sound like walking on the streets of Durban.

Floyd Mayweather’s Daughter, Yaya, Arrested For Stabbing Another Woman Over NBA Youngboy

Published

Floyd Mayweather’s 19-year-old daughter Iyanna has been arrested for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to TMZ, she’s currently being held at Houston’s Harris County Jail after being taken into custody today.

Law enforcement sources say Iyanna had a confrontation with NBA Young Boy’s baby mama — Lapattra Lashai Jacobs — at Young Boy’s home. When Iyanna arrived at the house, she told Jacobs she was Young Boy’s fiancée and ordered her to leave.

The argument then moved into the kitchen, where Iyanna was in possession of two knives. As Jacobs stepped toward Iyanna, she reportedly charged at Jacobs with one of the knives, which she told police she didn’t feel. But then, Iyanna stabbed her with the second knife and fell to the floor, where she was discovered by the police.

An alleged video of the scene shows blood all over the floor. The caption says Jacobs is in “critical condition,” but that has yet to be confirmed.

Youngboy, who was home at the time, was briefly handcuffed by cops — presumably as a precautionary measure — before being released.

Iyanna told cops Jacobs had incited her by initially pulling her hair outside the house and then running into the kitchen, where the confrontation went down.
Iyanna told cops she had never met Jacobs before.
