GREATER ACCRA – Thursday, April 9, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – In a bid to fulfil a promise he made a few days ago, One of Africa’s reggae and dance-hall star, Charles Nii-Armah Mensah, known as Shatta Wale has donated some coronavirus relief items to inmates to help fight the pandemic in the country.
Though he didn’t reveal where he did the donation, he shared photos from the event on his Facebook page with the caption, “Just surprised these inmates in these difficult times. Let’s continue to stay safe and think about the vulnerabilities in society and lend our little support any way we could. God bless us all! Keep your faith alive, all these shall pass.”
Shatta Wale later in the video disclosed he will be making more donations to the Ghana Police Service and also to prisoners in support of the government help fight coronavirus.
The “Ayoo” hitmaker in an explosive live streaming video on Facebook which was targeted at Sarkodie and Reggie Rockstone a few days ago also revealed his intentions to donate food and other essential items to Ghana police service and prisoners. He expressed his disappointment in some Ghanaian artiste (Criss Waddle and Medikal excluded) with their inability to help the government fight the spread of COVID-19 cases in Ghana which currently stands at 313.

Sony/ATV Signs D-Black To Global Publishing and Distribution Deal

GREATER ACCRA – Wednesday, June 3, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – Rallying in solidarity with anti-racism protests in the United States of America demanding justice for George Floyd who was killed on May 25 by team of Police officers and an end to systemic racism, protestors in Ghana have called for international boycott of U.S. products in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and against racism, impunity , and state-sanctioned street executions.
Spear-headed by Nana Richard Abiona better known by his stage name Fuse ODG, the British-Ghanaian recording and performing artiste, and Human Rights Activist in a video posted on his official Instagram handle stated that, the Global African diaspora needs to start unleashing some economic plaques on America and countries where racism is condone, as Black people have the spending power in the U.S. with over a trillion dollar power annually.
Floyd, an unarmed Black man, was pinned to the ground by a white officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The officer, who has since been fired and charged for murder, knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, as Floyd pleaded “I can’t breathe”. Protests, which began in Minneapolis, have spread to hundreds of cities across the US. National Guard troops have been deployed in at least 23 states to handle the demonstrations.
In 2017, Fuse ODG launched a “Pull It Down” campaign against Nivea, after the German cosmetic manufacturer erected advertisement boards in Ghana and some parts of Africa which subtly promotes bleaching. Later, he shared a post on social media celebrating the campaign’s victory following the product’s decision to pull down a series of controversial posters.
Fuse ODG has projected Ghanaian music to the outside world. He is best known for his 2013 single “Antenna” which peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart, and for featuring in Major Lazer‘s “Light It Up (Remix)” which also peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. On 2 June 2013 Fuse ODG released his debut single “Antenna“, the song peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart, the song also peaked at number 85 on the Irish Singles Chart.
