BET To Host Annual Award Show Virtually.

COV!D-19 has forced the cancellation of many events, festivals, and celebrations, but not The BET Awards. The annual award show will be hosted virtually amidst the COV!D-19 pandemic. BET will join a number of live shows such as American Idol, which have continued to run their broadcast under quarantine.

The week of the BET Awards is typically an entire extravaganza, celebrating Black excellence in entertainment, sports, tech, and entrepreneurship, culminated by the award show, called the BET Experience. The network continues to celebrate its 40th anniversary and 20th year anniversary for the BET Awards. What are you looking forward to at the first virtual BET Awards?

Grammy 2021 Nominees Announcement: Here Is How To Watch The Event

The 2021 Grammy nominees are set to be revealed on Tuesday morning (Nov. 24) with Dua Lipa, Imogen Heap and more joining interim Recording Academy president Harvey Mason Jr. to announce this year’s slate of nominations. The event will begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. ET and can be streamed live from the Grammys official website.

Additional artists participating in this year’s announcement ceremony include Lauren Daigle, Mickey Guyton, Nigerian Afropop singer Yemi Alade, classical violinist Nicole Benedetti and regional Mexican singer-songwriter Pepe Aguilar, along with CBS This Morning’s Gayle King and The Talk host Sharon Osbourne.

Several major categories are expected to be announced during the live stream, including the Grammys’ Big Four: best new artist, album of year, record of the year and song of the year. Immediately following the event, the complete list of all 84 categories will be live on the Recording Academy’s website.

Last year at the 2020 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish became the first artist to sweep the four major categories in nearly 40 years, thanks to the success of her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and its corresponding No. 1 hit “Bad Guy.”

The teenage pop star’s older brother and collaborator Finneas, meanwhile, took home the most awards during the evening with a grand total of six. (He also took home the gramophone for producer of the year, non-classical in addition to the awards he won with Eilish.) The 63rd annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place Sunday, Jan. 21, 2021.

King Lagazee Is Ghana’s Reggae/Dancehall DJ Of The Year

Isaac Monney, popularly known in Ghanaian Showbiz circles as “King Lagazee” has won big again at this year’s Ghana DJ Awards (2020).

For the 4th time he has won the same category – “Reggae/Dancehall DJ Of The Year”. He won first time in 2016, then the following year 2017 and the year after (2018) he won – consecutively for 3 times. And this year, 2 years later he won it back again in 2020.

King Lagazee hosts Ghana’s biggest Reggae/Dancehall magazine on Radio on Hitz 103.9fm. His show is called “Yaad Settingz”, airs live every Sunday between 8:00pm to 10:00pm.

King Lagazee holds a very enviable score on his radar – he has hosted and interviewed music greats from Grammy winning artistes Morgan Heritage, Rocky Dawuni (Grammy Nominee), Stonebwoy (BET Winner), Shatta Wale (IRAWMA Winner), Samini (MOBO / MTV Winner) among others. His catalogue pulls a huge audience from across Africa to Europe, USA and The Caribbean.

Doreen Avio Bags “Female On-air Personality” Of The Year At MAYA Awards

Golden Movie Awards 2020: All Nominees

The nominees for this year’s merit based film award organised by NMJ Ghana – Golden Movie Awards have been announced by the Grand Jury ahead of the awards ceremony slated for 5th December, 2020 at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre. The Nomination Announcement of the sixth edition of the awards ceremony came off at The Underbridge on Thursday 19th November 2020.

In March 2020, the scheme announced entries for the 2020 edition where it accepted films of all genres and lengths, which were be screened by the Grand Jury made up of experienced filmmakers and film industry practitioners of different nationalities for possible nomination in the various categories. Only films made between 1st January 2019 and 31st January 2020 were considered eligible for the awards.

In all, outstanding films and film makers across Africa were nominated in twenty (20) competitive categories. In addition to the competitive categories, five legends of the African film industry; Pascaline Edwards, Nana Ama McBrown, Akwasi Boadi, Akofa Edjeani and Kalsoume Sinare who will be inducted into the Golden Movie Walk of Fame at the main event were also unveiled

For six years running, the event has brought actors and actresses, filmmakers, seasoned film critics, representatives of the Arts, Culture and Tourism ministries as well as other stakeholders in the African film industry together to celebrate and honour the industry’s most outstanding achievements within the year under review, while discussing the best ways of improving on it
