GREATER ACCRA, GHANA, Tuesday February 11, 2020/www.gbafrica.net/ – Radio and TV personality, Berla Mundi played the host for Absa Bank’s official introduction in Ghana, which was, linked to similar events other countries across Africa.
Berla hosted the feed from Ghana, where she reported on happenings at the Accra event to announce the change in name from Barclays Bank Ghana to Absa Bank Ghana. She also interviewed several guests including Jason Quinn, Group Financial Director for ABSA Group, and Charles Russon , Chief Executive of Corporate and Investment Banking.
Charles Russon talked about the significance of Absa’s presence in 12 African countries as it connotes unity on the African continent and the need to form a cohesive force for development.
Jason Quinn also expressed how impressed he was with the effort made by the team to successfully launch in Ghana and reiterated Absa’s commitment to bringing possibilities to the lives of Ghanaians and Africans through various innovations and improved products and services.
Speaking about her experience, Berla expressed excitement at having to work with the Absa Brand as an influencer and is looking forward to helping take over the youth space with their various innovations and products.
Barclays Bank Ghana Limited has hence commenced operations as Absa Bank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Absa Group Limited, after receiving all required regulatory approvals from the Bank of Ghana. The name change marks the start of a new era for the bank’s operations as a forward-looking African bank with global reach.
The bank, which has been the most profitable in the industry for the past three years, is a major financier and contributor to key sectors of the Ghanaian economy, including agriculture, education, health, industry and infrastructure among others. Under the Absa brand, the bank has reiterated its commitment to remain a significant player in the financial services sector and the country’s economic development.
The change to Absa will not cause any change in customers account details and the bank’s branches will continue to operate as usual. Barclays branded cards will continue to work as normal until their date of expiry. Customers can also continue to use their Barclays chequebooks until 10 August 2020, after which only cheques drawn on an Absa chequebook will be accepted.

Minnie Dlamini Jones To Host The DStv Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Awards

English DJ, Edu’s Top 10 Artistes To Watch In 2020
BBC Disc Jockey (DJ) Edu has launched a new weekly show This Is Africa on BBC World Services. The Kenyan-born, London-based DJ Edu will look to cover the best music from all corners of the African continent with spotlights on new artists and rising talent as well as the classics.
“It encapsulates everything I love about African music,” DJ Edu mentions. “I’m really looking forward to, showcasing and sharing the great stories, music & culture coming out of young Africa with a new and existing audiences.
“Rema was one of the most talked about young talents from Nigeria last year,” says DJ Edu. “His diverse musical style makes him unique. One of his songs even appeared on Barack Obama’s 2019 playlist.”
Zimbabwe’s Simba is a producer who has been making hit records for afrobeats superstars, while mixing and mastering their sounds too,” DJ Edu memtions. “He’s now adding being an artist himself to that list.”
“Sheebah, from Uganda, is fiery and energetic with ambition to be great. She started as a dancer, performing for many of the popular Ugandan acts but is now ready to take centre stage and be counted,” says Edu.

“Kabza De Small is part of the amapiano movement from Jozi, South Africa and an understudy of legendary producer and self-proclaimed hit maker DJ Maphorisa,” DJ Edu tells us.
“Sho Madjozi is a rapper, singer, and poet who is into pushing the Tsonga culture through her music,” explains DJ Edu. “She recently won Best New International Act at the BET Awards.”
“Vanessa Mdee is already a household name already in Tanzania and the rest of Africa. She’s now also dating Power star Rotimi, which could only help enhance her music reach further,” says Edu.
“Innoss B is a dancer and singer from DR Congo who fuses Congolese music with popular genres,” DJ Edu mentions. “He’s also a skilled djembe player. Innoss B won a national singing competition and has already been on tour with Akon.”
“Tems is a Nigerian singer-songwriter with a powerful voice quite similar to Tracy Chapman. She joined the ensemble in secondary school & recorded tunes each day with her senior sibling. There is where she got her drive,” Edu states.
Astute Media Personality, Jessica Opare Celebrates 15 Years At Citi FM

The Traffic Avenue show host is one of most revered radio personalities in Ghana’s radio terrain who moved to Citi FM in 2005 where she became the host for Citi Drive and then later, Brunch in The Citi and then, The Traffic Avenue. Also a television personality, she is known for producing breathtaking voice overs for reputable organization and also a celebrated master or ceremonies.
Jessica has worked in radio for about 20 years and TV for about 16 years hence she is one of the longest serving presenters on the Ghanaian scene. She started working as a radio presenter in 2000 at Vibe FM and then in 2004 moved to Choice FM. She used to be the co-host of Celebrity Fanzone on GH One TV, an award-winning celebrity and lifestyle show but now hosts Sister Sister, an all women relationship talkshow.
Also, she is the host for Transformation with Jess, Ghana’s first ever weight loss reality TV show and the owner of The Voice Ova Company, a business that specializes in managing voice talent. She had her secondary education at Akosombo International School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Art from the University of Ghana, Legon where she majored in Economics and Psychology.
