Once again Accra Fashion Week makes history in the world of African fashion with an explosive virtual edition that premiered live from the 11th to the 13th of December 2020. The online show held a very informative seminar that featured buyers from Israel and Switzerland discussing why the culture of fashion buyers in Africa is missing. The seminar was hosted by the CEO of Accra Fashion Week Nana Tamakloe and premiered live on youtube. Also, a seminar on branding was held and it featured Moulaye, owner, and founder of Afrikrea, and blogger Innocent Kwashe of FashionPivot.

The main show aired on the 12th and 13th of December and exceeded expectations. Hosted by Kati G, viewers were treated to an amazing and excellent production of virtual runway activities held at Independence Square and also the Kwame Nkrumah National park. The event featured prominent designers from USA, UK, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Australia and more.

It featured brands such as Milandsther, Diamond Couture, Signature’s Fashion House, Clavon Leonard, Fundivas Exclusive, Red Cotton Boutique, Fnetia, Mikoko Deluxe, Don Murphy, Azulant Akora, and Impari Moda. Highlights of the show were seeing Michael Blackson step out on USA based designer Don Morphy. FashionGHANA also executed an amazing display of swimwear fashion and more.

The event has set a record for introducing Virtual fashion shows in Africa a manner that also hosted performances, presenting, and other interesting bits that shows on the premiere dates. The 2020 edition of the Award-winning event Accra Fashion Week is set to premier 10-13th December 2020. The organizers, www.FashionGHANA.com have decided to execute a virtual premier that can be watched by fashionistas in Ghana at the Goldcoast, and by others around the world online.

The global pandemic has shifted a lot of activities to the end of the year due to the social distancing and lockdown that took place earlier this year. “Turning 30 years, gave us the impetus of starting the journey of driving meaningfulness among 18-24 demography through culture, partnerships and influencers. Our focus is to grow penetration and salience to establish Ghana as the biggest Malta Guinness market in Africa” said the Marketing Manager Guinness Stout and Malta Guinness at Diageo, Samuel Dery.

With the motive of making the night a memorable one for an estimated Hundred patrons on the event night and others who watched live on Malta Guinness’s official Facebook and Instagram pages, Afropop artiste, Camidoh was billed alongside award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie and Cina Soul on the 14th of November at the Polo-grounds, to deliver an intriguing performance with his undiluted voice.

Camidoh sure knows how to get a party started and was the star attraction at the Ghana’s leading non-alcoholic malt beverage brand 3 decades anniversary. He belted out his hits like “For My Lover” (featuring Darko Vibes), “Maria” and other tunes from his debut EP – Contingency Plan. With a positive reception from event goers, his performance was rated the best on the night.

After singing his heart out in at the Polo-grounds in Accra, Camidoh took a short trip to East Legon, where he teamed up with the PatchBay Band to entertain patrons at the 2020 edition of the Rhythms on Da Runway, an event rated as Ghana’s biggest night in Fashion and music at the on 14th November at the East Legon Underbridge Event Centre.

It was an electrifying atmosphere when he mounted the stage. Camidoh exuded much energy on stage as he performed back to back hits for about 30 minutes. “Maria” is literally one of the catchiest songs to be released under the year of review. And his performance of it at the fashion show was beyond mesmerizing.

Cookie T; radio & television broadcaster, actor Fiifi Coleman, Akumaa Mama Zimbi; radio & television broadcaster and philanthropist, Gifty; Miss Universe 2012, Phylis Vesta Boison; Miss Malaika 2019 actor Umar Krup, and other notable creatives who serve as a visual aid for consumers or designers creating works of art have been announced as the official guest models who will rump on “Rhythms on da Runway“, slated for November 14, 6PM at the Underbridge, East Legon.

Launched early October at the plush African Regent Hotel, Accra- Ghana, the event will parade some of Africa’s most leading men’s wear and women’s wear designers who will be unveiling their latest collections and creations through a night of splendid fashion extravaganza. In addition to the usual assortment of business casual wear, streetwear, formal wear, ethnic fashion wear, and classic tailoring, the collections are anticipated to come with rich innovation and style.

This year’s edition under the ‘BEYOND THE RETURN’ theme will be strictly Ghanaian and its dubbed the ‘100 Ghanaian edition’ which is part of the Beyond the Return event activities. This means that only Ghanaian Fashionistas would showcase their fashion works on the runway. Other African and International fashion houses were not added to this year’s event as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Since its inception 13 years ago Rhythms on da runway have brought more fashion greats to showcase their works being rocked on the runway by some of the best models from Ghana. Last year’s event for ‘THE YEAR OF RETURN’ edition, was a huge success and saw African designers from far and wide converge to display their works. Designers like Mudi, Ophelia Crossland, Velma Accessories, Abrantie the gentleman and a host of other notable designers were amongst those that shared their works with fashion lovers present.
